Yes this exactly. The 5 deal is actually a very good deal for all. C5 pay very little for the rights and so being same day etc really doesn't make a bit of difference and the shows 5star outing probably more than covers the cost. We have the added protection as fans, that the show is still a hit at home and in other territories. Eighbours relied solely on the UK market and I think many didn't realise this. I think they will still market the show, they are now. There's an advert currently running across the digital channels for daytime on 5star which includes Home and Away. I think they will be happy with the current scheduling with the repeat aired at lunch the next day, perhaps even counting on some folks switching soaps to get their sunshine fix. As you say time will tell but the lunchtime repeat for H&A still has a 10 - 12% audience share most days so performs well anyway.

Yes on reflection I think you're correct. I think it's more likely the 1:15pm repeat time will be adjusted slightly (perhaps even to 1:45) as there's a gap there that will need to be filled. The main premier will stay on 5star, as you say ratings wise/advertising wise that probably keeps the lights on over there.. Then the channel may try new acquisitions 6-7 when eggheads isn't on.

It's broken in the media this evening that Neighbours has been axed. Could this be a move back to 6 on C5 for Home and Away?

Nahh I think channel 5 commission a lot of factual at 7 and in any event, I expect eastenders to have to move to 7 or itl really suffer. I think we are moving into a world where the soaps will be debuting on the relative apps such as itv hub, I player my5 etc slowly but surely.

Really enjoyed that episode last night. Happy the show is back and kicking off right in the drama!

5star kicking off this Friday 31st December still do you know?

Monday 15th Nov First look on 5star drew in 566,115 viewers. Wouldn't be surprised if that's the highest first look rating? All others rest of week above 400k with weds as exception. Feels better. In a few weeks we will have the officials in (+28day ratings) The same Monday episode 4 weeks prior was at 350,700 in the official ratings. Just for comparison.

All 5 episodes are the top 5 every week haha. More notably, the 6pm 5star repeat doesn't show in the 5star top 10 (not that I expected it to) meaning that's under 128k. So the loss of 6pm hasn't made a difference and doesn't add anything for anybody. Those 5stars on 7 day + ratings do look a smidge up on usual numbers at this stage though (let's see if it climbs any further when they become official after 28 days, as this will account in people watching on recordings and playback) I thought that the lunchtime C5 repeat might've seen a little bump initially as those downloading from on-demand on sky etc will account for the playback figures of that showing but seems to be the usual 350k-400k.

Haha I i know what you mean. They almost get away with it because Im not sure the intention was to gas the event, just an unfortunate position of an air vent in the gym leading upstairs. The target was tane who wasn't at the mental health event. I agree I think it's the friend too. Perhaps she had an unhealthy obsession to flick, jealousy or over protection or something and flick has been telling her he's bad news?

Average for hollyoaks at 6:30pm c4 w/c 25th Oct just short of 450k per ep. Home and away first look on 5star w/c 25th Oct averaged 359K At 6:30pm (This was before the schedule shift) You're under estimating the amount of folk willing to watch 5star. In theory, home and away first look should be comfortably ahead of Hollyoaks if enough people have made the leap to first look as C5 want us to. Interestingly, Hollyoaks first look average was 430k for 7pm on E4. So only about 900k watching Hollyoaks (adding the two airings together). Home and away was nudging 1.1 million across 13:15 18:00 and 18:30 first look. Let's see when the numbers come in

You're right, I caught today's Lunchtime airing whilst pottering round the house (I had watched 5star the night before anyhow) and the continuity announcer said something like the following "If you missed all the action from the bay last night on 5star, here's your chance to catch up" They want as many eyes on all the adverts on 5star as possible ? I suppose it makes business sense.i hope they've pulled this off and the audience has migrated. If they have, the show could up there with some of the most watched on multichannels. We shall see! It looks like it's become the 5star soap.

They do indeed still upload to My5 after the 1:15 C5 showing so the 5star DOG is a messy one ? This Friday is the last first look this year on 5star. (Well, technically not, as it returns Friday 31st Dec) so let's see if that upload pattern remains into next year!

How can she not see that Ryder is upset about being kidnapped, Theo is all over her like a rash and that this while birthday club night was a completely naff idea. For example tonight's first look being available tonight in hd and those who watch C5 pace to watch in HD can get up to first look pace if they wanted. Not really feeling the whole Theo Ryder and chloe love triangle that looks to be developing. Any thoughts? Really struggling to warm to Theo for obvious reasons but him basically kidnapping Ryder just to take him to the club was a major step to far imo. No wonder Ryder reacts the way he does around him

OHHHH ok so letting people who have already found and watched the show, know when and where else to find it ? 5star might have something running and maybe across other Viacom channels I've noticed before when a big story comes up (like the impending UK season final) they run trailers over the digital channels so will keep a look out if they're doing it

Yep, Latest ratings for week 11th Oct -17th Oct 1:15pm: 11th Oct: 394,000 1:15pm: 12th Oct: 365,000 1:15pm: 13th Oct: 358,000 No 6pm showing made the C5 top 50. (I imagine they're just outside of the top 50 as before eggheads started they were there, so are probably doing about 300k at 6pm) 5star ratings are basically a mirror of the lunchtimes above. Infact, recently they've been over 450k I imagine if C5 can get enough people over to 5star of an evening we might be looking at over 500k for first look, dare I say even 600k. I think they can pull it off. Providing they actually tell people.

It's available in HD at lunchtime and in HD at any time you like on demand. You are very likely in the minority if you sit down at 6pm every night at this day and age ñ. The reality is, more viewers watch the show at lunchtime and more viewers watch the 5star firstook too. It's more profitable for C5 to consolidate more of us to 5star or lunchtime where the show still has advertiser's willing to pay (they haven't at 6pm for years now) and strengthen their audience share of both channels. 5star is launching in HD on that new sky glass TV so maybe it will change on other platforms too. However, at 6pm you can watch on catch up in hd if you like for now.
