Duh how could I forget about her? I still remember the episode when Dan and Leah left and she promptly, forcefully, practically ripped his shirt of and wanted to do it there and then. I could never understand why he preferred Belle to be honest (because I thought Lisa was miles better) but I guess he was in love with her. Yeah didn’t she pretend to drown so he could save her? I didn’t realise who Denni was until you mentioned he was Lisa’s boyfriend (I was kinda on and off with Home and Away at the time). He was Dom’s mate during the drag racing debacle with Drew. Can I assume that that Gus person bears no resemblance to Gus Philips? I thought that was a great twist with Kim and Matilda and totally out of character for her. Sometimes I need these things literally spelt out but I assume that they slept together. If so what are the implications of this when she gets teleported back to her universe? (Rhetorical question)

The thing is one of the reasons why I dislike her so much was because I still haven’t forgotten what she did to Barry. She practically murdered him in cold blood out of pure greed just so she could get her hands on his money and I although I missed the episodes following her return, I personally thought she was released way too early from jail and for me she didn't show a snippet of remorse for that whole thing. But it will be interesting to see how this affects her and if there will be a permanent change (unlikely) or she will simply be ok for a little while and revert back to how she was before (more plausible). I couldn’t agree more. They could have ALMOST achieved the same effect by making her seriously ill and basically putting her out of commission for a little while and left the audience wonder will she/won’t she make it. And we could have seen various people visit her at the hospital and talk to her whilst she was in a coma or something. Something else I forgot to mention was that I loved Phil’s facial expressions (especially at Archie) during this episode. From the look on his face you could tell he knew that Danielle was telling the truth. I watched the last 15 minutes of it again on the BBC iPlayer and found it extremely difficult.
-
I can only mirror the sentiments echoed by the previous posters. After building the storyline up for months the writers decide to end it dramatically in such a fashion. Even though I knew Danielle was going to die I still felt really sorry for her and Roxy. That was definitely one of the best episodes I’ve seen in a very long time and in typical soap fashion they made us wait almost three quarters of an hour. Imagine believing your daughter is dead for the past 16/17 years, letting that eat you up inside, being green with envy at your sister because she had what you couldn’t (and at first didn’t seem to appreciate it). Then you find out your daughter’s alive, without realising treat her with contempt, realise that you helped her abort your grand child, try to make things up, only to have her taken away from you. Even though I can’t stand Janine she did seem to show remorse and it was an accident. But you could see she was clearly in shock as too was Stacey. The looks on their faces even Roxie’s when they were standing over her lifeless body... Archie is just pure evil. And I am starting to wonder if he truly does love Ronnie. One thing’s for sure it’s definitely about control as far as he's concerned. Although the episode was undeniably gripping, I’d rather have not seen Danielle die as I would have liked a continuation their relationship, to see it develop over time and watch them together as mother and daughter.

Sorry I’ve been busy with work and haven’t really had time to read any fan fictions, just post on the UK discussion thread. Really liked the reaction of alternate Matilda 2 upon hearing Scott on the phone thus confirming that Ric was telling the truth about the swap over. I also liked Matilda’s reaction when Kim told Lucas and Lisa that she was from an alternate Universe. I could just picture her looking at him like that too. I knew Matilda have to do something before the pyramid will begin glowing. Interesting how this Mandalone person was in both alternate universes. This would suggest (again going back to the infinite universe theory) that he and the pyramid would be in every universe. So although I don’t recall him being mentioned in Alternates this would imply that he is in the mainstream universe too…. BTW - Who's Lisa?

I haven’t been watching this very much lately but one thing I noticed regarding the way Ronnie was acting tonight (and towards her sister last week) is that she came across as though she was very bitter. Sort of the kind of bitterness where you can’t stand to see other people happy (bar her dad and Peggy of course). So what did Danielle do to tick her off? Because the last I can recall she thought she was pregnant and Ronnie was going with her to the abortion clinic. And shortly after that I remember Danielle asking Ronnie for something and she said “Not now” but she never seemed as though she hated her whereas tonight when her name was brought up she said “Good riddance!”.

That whole scene with Geoff/Melody/Aden made me smile (especially liked Melody’s remark). Did Aden really do that for Nicole? Initially I thought he just wanted to stir things up for his own amusement or perhaps he was harbouring some jealousy but maybe he just didn’t want that happening to him. I do remember you breaking Adelle up in Life on the Inside but hadn’t realised you’d done it in your other fanfics as well. I’m guessing subconsciously this reflects how you want things to eventuate on the actual show. I liked the dialogue between Rachel and Tam. I could just picture Rachel being like that as well. Not only was Tam unrepentant but actually pleased with how well things proceeded too.

If Mr Red Ranger can obsess about rooms inside various Summer Bay dwellings (or TARDISs as he likes to call them) why can’t I obsess about parallel Universes? I forgot about Matilda’s crush on Kim. That was when she pretended that she was drowning so he could rescue her. Well at least alternate Matilda 2 is not as bad as alternate Matilda 1. Look forward to seeing her reaction when she finds out that Beth is dead (if Ric decides to tell her that is). Going by the first story Matilda is obviously in the second parallel Universe to do something so until she does, Ric is stuck with alternate Matilda 2. Looks like he better get used to having an empty bed. Bummer!
-
Right so how long is that break-up going to last then? Probably all of five minutes perhaps. I’m half expecting Tam to seize the opportunity to her advantage. The minute Nicole gets a sniff of those two together (even as friends) her jealousy will no doubt make her put up some kind of fight (I hope).
-
So as I expected Belle plays the part of the big sister. Was Nicole really going round there to make an effort and clear the air or was she set to deliver one of those stay away from my man speeches? I think she’s the one watching them as well but that would be to obvious wouldn’t it?
-
Assuming that that event was only two weeks after Ric was teleported to another universe and Matilda went to the exact place and time in a seperate universe, you would have to assume that is a different alternate universe to the one Ric went to because although Tony and Beth are still married, Miles and Rachel were at the caravan park together whereas in Alternates it was Sally and Kiaran. So I guess you’re subscribing to the theory of an infinite number of parallel universes (see you’re not the only one who thinks about things). BTW – Look forward to seeing what the Matilda in our Summer Bay universe is like.

That last part reminded me a bit of when Nicole first turned up and she befriended Annie as a way of getting to Geoff (although admittedly she bribed her as well). As already mentioned he remained completely oblivious to what appears to be going on. Paris is going to hit the roof when she finds out although I can somehow picture Aden finding it funny.

I second that and to rub salt in the wound one thing that STILL bothers me is the whole incident regarding Axel, where let’s face it he basically got away with GBH. The worst thing for me is not so much what he did but the fact that he didn’t show any remorse. And going back to the clinic when he went after Melodies dad and tried to reassure him he was no harm to her, he was actually bragging about putting him in hospital. So as I said before till this day - completely unrepentant and I don’t think he’s ever going to express any regret over that either. To compound matters further I still find it hard to believe that neither Tony nor Geoff informed the police or at the very least told Roman (Nicole and Belle fancied him so I wasn’t expecting either of them to say anything). I too wasn’t convinced after the court case however over the last month or so I have definitely seen a change in character to the point where I didn’t think I would say this but I think I actually like him now. Well almost. And the reason is because I feel he hasn’t really put a foot wrong (bar when he very stupidly gave Belle the pills but he was trying to help her) and has just been trying to keep his head down and get on with things. And the fact that he turned down the opportunity to go to uni so he could stay and look after Belle does show some degree of selflessness. He has also tried to look out for Melody and Joey. Regarding Larry I would also like to see him return as I still feel that remains unresolved and I suppose there needs to be some kind of closure. We all know that Aden’s behaved pretty reprehensibly but there’s nothing anybody can do to really change that and I think the important thing is that he doesn’t repeat his past acts. I think it is unlikely that we will see a reoccurrence regarding the whole mess with Larry but I’m still not so sure about the Axel incident, because I feel given the right circumstances there is a possibility that he could relapse.
-
Keep it up! Why do I get the distinct impression that that whole incident re Tam/Aden still bothers you? So at least one person in Summer Bay doesn’t think that the sun shines out of his backside. Let’s hope she stirs things up some more. Still expecting her to warn Belle about Aden at some point. And hopefully more scenes in school like we had before. Also like to see how she gets on with Ruby and Melody.

^^I always assumed that she died in the explosion. Her profile on the site says she was killed in the blast. At the time we were led to believe Peter died as well. So presumably Jack still got one of his kidney’s which proved futile in the end.
-
Thoroughly enjoying this. Even more than some of your other fan fics. The whole scene between Nicole and Tam brought a smile to my face. I think you’ve got both of them down to a tee. I could just picture them in that scenario as well. Geoff as per usual couldn’t get a word in edgeways. The balance of adolescents seems just right. Looking forward to the run-in with Aden and Belle. I really can't wait for the next chapter.

I thought about what I’ve said again but I still think this is very much a grey area. Regardless I still believe that in some people’s eyes Kane did not get his comeuppance (that is part of the reason why I feel they don’t like him). It’s a simple as that. Yes he was treated like an outcast and completely ostracised by most of Summer Bay (as an aside Alf, Jesse, Flynn, Noah and Irene all gave him a chance which I believe was part of the reason for his reform) as I can remember the treatment from the likes of Scott, Seb, Josh etc who all used him a punchbag at some point (incidentally I left the Sutherlands out because I think their actions were perfectly understandable, Rhys was just trying to protect his daughter(s) and you can’t blame him for that, nor can you blame the rest of them for hating him). However Angie and Zoe died, (I presume Zoe died from the explosion at Jack and Martha’s reception) and Barry Hyde went to jail so I meant in that sense there was no justice for some people regarding Kane. Also to be fair he could have walked away at anytime and he chose to come back to that situation even though he hadn’t seen Kirsty for about a year (and another argument was that he owed it to Dani to allow her to come to terms with what happened without being around him). Furthermore I think rape is a very sensitive issue (as you said). Judging by remarks I’ve seen from some posters, it appears to be the one crime where there is no forgiveness. And reading other forums a lot of people always saw Kane as the bad guy and didn’t like the fact that the writers were trying to making him good (not saying I agree with that but I’m trying to give what I think are full and frank reasons for the resentment that remains). It’s interesting that you mentioned Jesse and Nathan. Firstly both of them went to jail and served their time (I always thought Nathan did an armed robbery at a shop Red Ranger and didn’t Jesse beat someone up but Flynn covered for him). Nathan was in jail for several years so I think it’s perfect plausible for him to have at least reformed to the point where he was no longer a violent criminal. Secondly, again neither of those two committed rape so to some people they were not beyond redemption. I do agree with you regarding Kane though, he helped a lot of people and that seems to be conveniently forgotten. I often wonder what would have happened if he had gone to jail. Things could have turned out very differently for a lot of people. Finally everyone moved on from that resentment/witchhunt phase. He became friends with Scott (he turned up for the good luck party and the stuck by him through the trial). There were others such as Haley, Irene, Morag (who put up $10000 for his bail), Beth, Tasha etc. I can sense a lot of frustration within your posts. I used to be like that but I’ve come to realise that you just have to accept that some people will never like him but as far as the hardcore fans are concerned it shouldn’t really matter.

^^ I think it's 4736.

Very good Red Ranger. I always liked Tam and was very disappointed when they decided to write her character out of the show in such a short space of time. I always wondered if she remained how things would have panned out with Geoff and Aden. And with Nicole as part of the equation there are interesting possibilities I guess....

^^What about Matthew Lyons when Ruby tricked him into going nude on the beach.

Oh wow. The impression you gave from one of your final comments on Alternates I didn’t think you were going to write a sequel. What made you change your mind? I’m definitely going to try and make sure I read this. So Ric is still working at the warehouse. I’m surprised he hasn’t been asking himself questions about his employers and wondering what kind of people would be in possession of something with such power and why only he is guarding it. You could probably write a whole season of episodes of various Summer Bay residents touching the pyramid and getting teleported across the space-time continuum to….wherever.

^^I actually CAN understand the hatred towards Kane because I’ve disliked other characters who have done lesser things. I think everyone has someone who they don’t like that’s just something that comes with Soaps such as Home and Away with such a diversity of characters and diversity of people watching it. Regarding Barry Hyde I think the reason why he killed his wife was because she was going to drown Kim when he was a baby, so he had no choice. Regarding Angie and Zoe, initially they were both ok and then we saw an evil side to them but the issue is they were both made out to be the bad guys so people expected them to do bad things. Also, did people actually like them as people or as characters? In saying that, I’ve noticed one thing in common with the three people whom you mentioned. For every single one of them there have been consequences/repercussions. They all paid for what they did. Kane however didn’t. Don’t get me wrong because Kane will remain one of my favourite all time characters but I can see where people are coming from regarding their frustration towards him as he was never punished for what he did to Dani. Things might have been different if he was sent down to jail and was released on parole because at least he would have served his time. I have noticed though how some viewers can have double standards. We all know what Kane did but look at Aden. He beat his best friend and left him for dead, he kidnapped his girlfriend and doctor (who went out of her way to help him incidentally) and he tried to administer a lethal injection to his dad. But apparently to a significant number of people he can do no wrong!

I completely understand what you are saying but there’s no need to be like that. Even though I’m a massive KK fan this isn’t an appreciation thread so people are allowed to say negative things about them. Firstly regarding the earlier point made about Dani and the trial I also think she got off because the truck driver saw her get out of the car came forward which proved that she didn’t run Kane down deliberately which corroborated her story about believing she thought she’d hit an animal. Anyway moving on, it’s interesting how a significant number of people have now completely done a U-turn regarding Kane, since he was released from prison. In the past I noted a lot of comments from people who said although they hated KK, they actually hated Kirsty more than they hated Kane. Now he seems to be the selfish one and the object of distain. I’ve also noted that quite a few people who said they were fans before and now rooting for Kirsty and Miles. To me that speaks volumes. As I said on another thread since they’ve been back it just hasn’t felt right, certainly not like the good old days. There’s been no spark, no chemistry between them. I don’t really think Kane’s changed that much as his expectations weren’t particularly high. He just wanted to be with Kirsty and their kid. As Red Ranger said Kirsty wanted a stable home for her son. The thing that bothers me is that for someone who ran away twice with him prior to 2005 and came back because she missed her family, I find it hard to believe the there has be no attempt to contact Rhys, Shelly, Dani etc whatsoever. And I can only recall Kirsty even mentioning them one time and that was when Jai was banned from seeing Annie and Kirsty made a comment about Rhys locking her in her bedroom to stop her from seeing Kane (as a side note were she and Miles actually sharing Kirsty/Jades old bedroom or am I guessing it was Rhys and Shelly’s). For someone that was prepared to give up her husband in order for her son to have a better life you’d thought she would want Ollie to get to know his real family. Now if she hasn’t contacted them out of pride that would indicate true selfishness. However I’m sticking with the argument about poor continuity regarding scriptwriting. This last paragraph is a killer because I tend to agree with it to a certain extent and by doing so, I’m basically saying that Kirsty and Kane are doomed. I’m assuming Kirsty is coming back because that did not feel like a happy ending when they departed and I presume Christie hasn’t left the cast (I haven’t heard anything yet) but I’m really starting to wonder myself that although she loves Kane is she actually IN love with him anymore. And I find myself returning to the same conclusion namely that I’d wished they’d never returned or better still it would have been better to leave Kane in jail (someone even suggested icing him for the sake of KK like JM and Sally and Flynn) ie. only one true love.
-
When Kane got the all clear after his chemo, Kirsty went up to the city to visit Laura who was taken ill at the same time (I don’t recall Kirsty saying what was wrong with her though). This was cut short when Kane was arrested for the armed robbery which his dad framed him for.
-
I'm pretty sure Kane has verbally abused Kristy several times. (Sorry can't think of specific examples, not word for word. But he has verbally abused her). Exactly so without specific examples I guess I will stick by what I said. I don’t ever recall Kane verbally abusing her. The only arguments I can think of were: 1. The time when she told him she didn’t want to have their baby (during the fake pregnancy) and they got into a massive fight but Kirsty gave as good as she got. And the argument was about the baby and how fed up he was with her attitude towards other people (as she was being moody and generally not being very nice). 2. He shouted at her after Gus first showed up because he didn’t want to make up with him (as Gus abused him when he was a child and he hadn’t forgiven him) before storming off. Just before that he asked her why she couldn’t have let things lie. I wouldn’t call that abuse. 3. There was another time just before his first trial for armed robbery when he was trying to call Greg Harvey (the person who Gus owed money to that lied about seeing Kane fleeing the crime scene) and Kirsty went ballistic but she was arguing with him and he was trying to justify his actions. I can’t remember any verbal abuse as such. BTW - Even I have to admit that babe thing did annoy me at times. It was used far too excessively. Almost every other word was “babe”.
-
I won’t bother trying to refute the point of Kirsty falling for Kane in the first place because most people have their thoughts on the subject and have decided which part of the fence they’re on and I don’t think anybody’s really going to change their minds about it. Kane never hit Kirsty. He raised his hand and then he stopped himself. Yes he was going to but he didn’t. I too didn’t like the way he went up to Miles and basically put pressure on him to break up with her but it’s hardly unexpected. At the time when he told her to move on he wasn’t expecting to get out of jail anytime soon but he was released (however implausible that may be) and given another chance. What was he expected to do? He wanted his family back. I hated the fact that he accused Dani of deliberately trying to run him down but in his defense I honestly believe he thought Dani tried to kill him. And who could blame her? Even if she had done it deliberately I still thought he should have dropped everything. However I still think she has to take some responsibility because she should never have been driving in the rain in the state she was. She was an emotional wreck and it was dangerous. I don’t think Kane ever abused Kirsty either and at times she was shown to be just as manipulative as he was. Recall when she lied about being pregnant so that Rhys wouldn’t annul their marriage and then she went to the trouble of emotionally blackmailing her sister to lie for her and later on put her husband and family through the heartache of a miscarriage. Regarding Kane not showing any remorse I don’t think he did after the robbery but he certainly did after Dani made him realise what he did to her. That was what the writers were trying to show with the second mediation session. Well I seem to remember him carrying Kirsty to safety, giving her water and taking care of her in the Bush after the Mirigini sunk. He saved Shelly from a snake bite and almost died for his efforts. He dug with his bare hands to help some of the locals rescue Kirsty, Max, Rhys and Jade from the collapsed mine shaft. And finally he saved Noah and Max from the drop in centre when it burned down. I take it you didn’t see any of those episodes?
