Both Brody and Zac went out as cheaters .

Seems be theme where when a character getting ready to leave they become lot more dislikable. Trying soften the blow for fans perhaps? But you'd think watching a favourite have a character assassination will only make it worst when they get the flick not long after

What option did they have with Zac? Widow Leah for a third time? I guess there were other ways to break them up that didn't paint Zac as the villian though. Hunter was revealed to not be Zac's son which just added to his poor exit storyline.

Part of the problem was that the writers wasted so marrying off Zac and Leah that it felt disatisfying to break them up after a year. He was around for well over 4 years, but they were only happily married for a few months. Ada's leave possibly changed the course on that though, since she was originally meant to be away much longer than she was.

It is more frustrating, because there is little time for them to be redeemed.

I think the Zac one backfired on them a tad - the way Leah treated him in those final months, a lot of us ended up siding with Zac and willing him to just sign the divorce papers and be rid!

It is interesting how they both were portrayed. Brody was having an affair and seemed to not really care, while stringing them both along until he got caught and stayed with Simone.

Zac and Leah were going through rocky patches and she kept pushing him away. It got worse after Billies death. He felt guilty when he cheated, confessed and really wanted to fix the marriage. Then found out Hunter wasn't his biological son when he was already down in the dumps. Even before he cheated, the marriage seemed over and only he was the one trying to fix it. There was no hope after that.

Leah and Zac's marriage seemed doomed from the start.

I think if Charlie wasn’t leaving then there wouldn’t be writing with Leah pushing Zac away and therefore no affair and staying together and I think Zac would have stayed Hunter's father.

I think it would have been better if they did not marry and just be partners and waited til Leah married Justin as by time Leah married Justin they were together for five and that was longest relationship she had  by then.

Back on topic both Jasmine exit ruined their characters with breaking Cash heart in such cruel way and I didn’t like Jasmine character afterwards and not having proper goodbye scene with anybody.

Coincidently, I stopped watching the show for many years around the time the Holdens arrived

I didn't find any of the Holdens particuarly interesting from the little I saw of them to be honest.

I was watching throughout and don't remember a great deal about them other than how dull they were. I remember Jack being shot dead by Angelo who was a lot more memorable but can't remember how Lucas or Tony exited.

I also thought Zac and Brody were dull characters. I did dread that Zac may be sticking around for years to come being married to Leah which is what has happened with Justin. Don't know who I find worse, the guy who plays Justin still can't act but if he ever does leave it's likely I'll remember him better than I remember Zac.

Tony was written out when Amy Mathews (Rachel) decided to leave. I don't know what happened to them though.

I liked Zac up until the final 6 months or so. I really liked Charlie Claussen in Blue Heelers and McLeod's Daughters, so I was excited to learn he was joining the show.

I recall Ada saying sometime after Dan was killed off that she didn't want Leah to get married again, so I assumed that meant when she did marry Zac, he must have been sticking around for the long haul.

Rachel and Tony had a baby Rachel got a job offer and they moved to America not long after. I had only started watching again after few years break right before they left
