I initially liked how the new credits were so different

With the huge cast turnover that 2000 had, the style certainly would have been more easy to update.

I dislike them now, but I enjoyed them at the time. They aren't very H&A as we knew it. It's hard to imagine the Robertson Brothers' version of the theme with the 90s style credits though.

I did enjoy the little Easter eggs though - the cast sometimes reacted to things floating by like Ailsa with the shark

I think the issue with that style is they kept it too long. The 2003 change should’ve been a complete new style rather than just the change to larger boxes and new transitions.

Four years in total - 3 years of the floating boxes and then 1 year of the larger boxes.

That whole style was much easier to update though. It's just a matter of replacing the text/box rather than filming a whole new group/duo shot every time someone leaves/joins. The late 90s style meant that many characters waited months before being added and others sometimes remained long after they'd left so multiple updates could be done at once. The 2004 titles was easy enough too since the actors were probably in front of a greenscreen.

It was and it wasn’t, they just tended to add any new joiners to the end as it was obviously a nightmare to rejig the order to place them more logically with their relationships.

I just wonder why they didn’t just write out both Joel and Natalie in 2000 before the Sutherlands arrived and without Natalie's affair. Gypsy could simply just move in with Vinnie.

In some ways I think it would have been a more ideal time for Sally to leave in 2000 with getting married and moving away being her exit storyline.

I didn’t buy them turning Sally into a foster mum and trying to turn her into new Pippa in 2004-2008. She just seemed too young when she was being a foster mum to Ric and Cassie as she seemed more like big sister figure then mother figure.

I thought the same particularly as the actress who played Cassie was much older in real life and only 4 years or so younger than Sally.

However a few years later my then 30 year old friend and his 25 year old wife were fostering a 15 year old. Don't get me wrong it was it bit weird seeing my friend parent a 15 year old, but it does happen.

Wasn't the idea of Sally as the central foster mum floated either in 1998 when Pippa left or 2000 when Summer Bay House was empty again, but it was decided Sally was too young at the time?

I vaguely recall reading that somewhere, but I can't remember which year they toyed with the idea. Then Dan Bennett(?) decided 2004 was when the timing was right
