CaptainHulk Posted June 12 Report Posted June 12 Ruh-Roh... based on today's cliffhanger. *gets his Crucifix ready and starts chucking holy water around* Nope... That's not gonna do any good! Quote

She explained that she wanted to be with Gage playing the loyal girlfriend when the police turned up. If she'd disappeared, it would have looked suspicious. 5 hours ago, H&Alover said: Did Irene catch Tane asleep on the couch No, she saw that he wasn't on the couch, and thus his talk with Harper hadn't gone as well as she'd hoped. It kind of feels like (aside from saving episode counts) Tane took Archie out on his own solely so Harper wouldn't be there when Eliza approached and he could go all Leah on her and dictate who Harper can and cannot see. I was annoyed that Alf and Roo just accepted Tane's word was law instead of recognising Harper has her own mind.Even though the promo shows Eliza at the beach house, Archie's done his three episodes this week, so unless that's from next week, I can't see Eliza getting to meet him.It continues to be odd that, despite having been very anti-Eliza for weeks (possibly even more so than Marilyn these days), Tane hasn't picked up on her not phoning the ambulance.Again, I don't think Eliza had any preference for the outcome of Harper's labour, she just wanted to see it either way.Still, her fascination with Archie suggests there's more to it than that.Also...no mention of Roo telling her to delete the video? Of course, that's not the only thing centring around Eliza at the moment. She starts the episode being as civil as she's ever been (I was really expecting some snark about Marilyn turning up) but I guess Alf trying to manipulate her and then parroting Tane's diktats didn't sit well with her. There was a feeling of her trying to punish him at the end. Mali really was being ridiculous trying to do everything on his own, but Kirby and Abigail tricking him into leaving work was an even worse idea than turning up offering to help. But they got him to listen anyway, so hopefully he'll get some help soon. (Oh, and technically Mali fired Kirby while she was serving her notice after quitting.) Mackenzie getting more and more clucky! We are outright told that Theo's out of the woods. A nice touch to have Abby worried about him, it's easy to forget they were nearly a thing once since I don't think we've seen them together in ages! Edited June 12 by Red Ranger 1 Quote
Foellfan Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 Tane and Archie, love it so sue me! Their scene with Mac was cute! I don't blame him for for warning Eliza off at all. The behaviour is unacceptable anyway, you don't film without someone's permission ever, least of all at that moment, I know some people do video births but that would be family not a random and also not in a situation like that one. Harper is such a whiny brat right now, I'd honestly bet that even if she was freaked out by Eliza's vid because Tane's been, quite rightly, concerned, she'd be all over Eliza just to be spiteful. I'm wondering if Eliza has an actual condition like either schizophrenia or even (I know it's not called this anymore but I cannot remember the modern name) Aspergers, given her obsessiveness and lack of social skills, all markers or Munchausen's by proxy even. H&Alover Posted June 13 Report Posted June 13 (edited) Tane had asked/suggested he take Archie out to give Harper some time to herself. I loved those scenes of him and Archie on the beach, showing him the sea, telling him the Maori word and that over there is your homeland and how at sometime he'd like him to visit. He was acting just like any proud dad would, good to see Archie had a little hat on to cover his head. The babies who play Archie are so good, very comfortable with being handled by people who aren't their parents. Mali wanting to sign him up for surfing lessons Both John and Alf went all gooey over him. One thing how did Mali know where Archie was conceived? Nice that Mac met Archie and she did come across as being very comfortable with handling a baby which is why I guess she got the pregnancy test kit out. Eliza did meet Archie, she, I think, heard someone say in the Diner Tane was showing Archie the bay and that is why she suggested her and Roo have a walk which is how they ran into him at the Surf Club. Then after Tane refused to let her hold him she showed him the film she'd taken of Harper giving birth which of course would have been a shock as it was for Roo as I think she thought Eliza had deleted the video. I bet Harper wouldn't be happy about it either. I'm guessing/hoping it will come out she hadn't called the ambo, they did have other things on their minds at the time. Both Roo and Alf did play it down but Alf did take her phone off her. It would be the same if Eliza was a 'normal' teenager and was punishing her, Roo had been a difficult teenager so had been there, done that. Him and Roo deciding to pay Eliza for doing jobs around the place did backfire as she overheard him. Which I'm supposing is why she took her revenge on him later, will she really let him have a heart attack? She stomped off to go and see Harper but Irene, who hasn't met her before wouldn't let her, guessing her y senses told her something wasn't right by the way Eliza was more or less demanding she see Harper. I have noticed we hear/see things from Eliza's perspective with the sound being muted and what we see is rather fuzzy. It seemed Eliza had been playing by the rules and both her and Marilyn were both amiable to each other - for now. Mali is being a typical male not willing to accept that he does need help, he can't do it all by himself. Alf is the same. I liked the fact Kirby and Abby ganged up on him by tricking him by pretending Kirby was having a melt down and it did get him to see sense. Men should really catch on that us women do have our ways to get you to see reason. I liked that Abby OK'd it with Mac that she could help Mali if he needed it. Doesn't have to be there when he is, just take in deliveries, take bookings etc. Edited June 13 by H&Alover 1 Quote

I'm pretty sure he stumbled across them doing the walk of shame next morning. Alf's episode count this week:Three. I'm reaching the point where I suspect we're not going to get full answers about Eliza and I'm okay with that, although I hope we get some points clarified. There is a certain enigmatic quality about her which I guess is true to life, and I think even she doesn't fully understand her behaviour. Roo thinks she was going to let Alf die, yet she says if she wanted to hurt him she'd have done a better job. She certainly didn't get him any help, but she had started to help him towards the house when John turned up: Had she decided he'd suffered enough or was she just trying not to be too obvious? She was eager to go and get his medication before Marilyn did it: Was she going to hide that as well? And then there's Harper. She really wanted to see her and show her the video and thinks Harper would appreciate it, as if she really does want a connection with her and Archie (like with the teddy?), but then there's a feeling that's just a way of staying close to her out of curiosity, as with her not wanting anyone else involved in the labour. It's ironic that the situation has flipped, with Eliza charming Alf and Marilyn while Roo is suspicious. Irene finally meets Harper on screen and managed to be reasonably polite to her. Mali's behaviour is one of those "I get it but I don't get it" moments. It's not nice to be portrayed like that, but he seems to be taking it out on everyone except the person responsible. Abigail really should have been more diplomatic: She possibly should have placed more emphasis on the fact that any legal battle would point out factual accuracies in the article, rather than act as though he actually did treat Kirby badly (although she may think that). It would seem like the logical response would be for Mali and Kirby to make a joint reply online making it clear that whatever disagreement they had that day, they still like and respect each other. Will that occur to anyone? Mackenzie gets a blow when her "maybe I'm pregnant" gambit falls flat.Hopefully she'll manage to avoid getting her hopes up too much, these things can take a while. CaptainHulk Posted June 14 Report Posted June 14 I'm amazed Mac hasn't fallen pregnant before tbh. Maybe the odd false alarm. 18 hours ago, Red Ranger 1 said: was she just trying not to be too obvious? H&Alover Posted June 15 Report Posted June 15 Ah yes that could it. I think the implication from what Levi was saying they had been using contraception, they have been pretty active in that department after all and had only just properly trying for a few weeks. If something doesn't happen in a few months then that will be the time to have checks to see if either of them have a problem. Usually though, in the OK at least, a few months would be far too soon to get in a panic about. But of course the fact Mac had that ectopic pregnancy may make a difference. Glad H&A didn't go down the usual dumping the pregnancy test in the bin where anyone can find it route. Levi coming home early did catch her out, he'd been alerted by Abbey telling him Tane had been to see her which she confirmed. He did look a bit befuddled seeing working at the board shop, love how she keeps him on his toes. It was that twat of a journo that has made these assumptions of what Mail and Kirby's working relationship was like before, they had stood in for each other many times. He was only going by what he saw that day and let's be honest Kirby was bigging herself up saying her working at the board shop was just a stop gap and in front of her boss/friend - OUCH. Kirby was the nearest so of course Mali took it out on her. They had only just agreed on what qualifications her replacement would need and had parted very friendly. Pretty gutsy of her to face him up like that likely knowing he'd blast off. Abbey obviously phrasing it completely the wrong way so Mali would think she's on Kirby's side. Once he has calmed down he and Kirby do need to put their side across. Wisely Levi and Mac kept out of it. Now the biggie! the Alf and Eliza drama. She certainly wasn't in a rush to find Alf's pills then when she did she pocketed them, that guy surprised her and she came across so sweet, saying she was looking for her 'grandad's' pills and her 'mum' would be there soon. Then her not being able to find Alf's phone and hers being 'out of battery'. Don't need to state the obvious she went nowhere near the caravan park. She was so cool at seeing Alf really struggling but he mustered enough strength to make her take him home where he had his other tabs. TPTB did tease us by letting us think John wouldn't get there in time as Roo told him to stick those posters up on his way to Alf. Now Alf may be a stubborn old codger but even he had realised over the years to keep some meds at the Bait Shop and at home. John knew Alf was on the mend when he started insulting him again. Then Eliza did her disappearing act and turned up at Irene's just calmly wandering about, OK Irene did the usual H&A thing leaving the door wide open so anyone could walk in, but wouldn't you at least knock on the door? Oh silly me Eliza did but no-one heard her. Did I miss Eliza introducing herself to Irene as Irene has no idea what Eliza looks like. Eliza just plonks herself down telling Irene she'll wait for Harper to come back. Where was Harper btw as last time we saw her she sitting on the sofa? Eliza's very cryptic comment about her needing to show Harper something she would like to see. How did Irene manage to ring Roo without Eliza hearing? Roo, finally, bit the bullet by challenging Eliza's behaviour which seemed to trigger something because as we saw she was so different, asked Alf if he was OK, thanked Marilyn for the meal, took the dishes to the sink, asked if she could go to her bedroom. Then Roo admitting that Marilyn was right about her instincts regarding Eliza. Then of course we saw Roo finding Alf's pills in Eliza's box. Roo had been thrown in the deep end by being asked to look after Eliza but Roo as we all know doesn't like to admit she can't cope and she does like her projects and can take over. Remember when Marilyn started working at a food ruck in the city in the aftermath of Heather, Roo took over, pushing Marilyn out, raising funds, now it seems that's all forgotten as she moved onto her new project. Medea Fleecestealer Posted June 16 Report Posted June 16 Oh, got the new intro today. Didn't see Mac and Levi, but I did miss the beginning of it. Quote
pembie Posted June 16 Report Posted June 16 I think to give Eliza abit of purpose because really she’s been a psycho but hasn’t really done anything interesting maybe they should have been brave enough and killed Alf off he character is quite crap these days and think John has taken his role of being like the guardian of the town now Quote
