Is it me or does most of the "drama" these days focus on the romances and nothing else?  We get other storylines now and then, but most seem to be about couples either getting together bigtime (do we really need to see them in bed?) or arguing and maybe breaking up.

Up until the last 5 minutes of today's episode, I did think there was a different side to Eliza but with the look she gave Marilyn when Roo was hugging her and the fact Cash didn't seem too bothered when Marilyn tried to talk to him afterwards, I'm guessing Eliza's a badun and Marilyn's right...again (I was actually in stitches when I saw Marilyn's facial expression change, although I'm not sure it was the brightest move, unless Eliza was purposely trying to taunt Marilyn).  It does feel that are recycling pieces of the Heather storyline.  I would like to know a little more about her backstory, particularly her parents and how they were with her.  It actually wouldn't surprise me if Eliza was responsible for her grandmother's death.  Now that she's out of Tane's Youth programme, I wouldn't mind seeing her at Summer Bay High, although there aren't any characters her own age she can interact with.

And Roo needs to nip down to St James Church fast and get some holy water for her latest charge!

My thoughts after seeing the first couple of episodes with Eliza were Omen 4.

I can't say I'm that pleased to see Dean, Ziggy and Karen again.  Fair play to the producers for getting all the actors back.  I do agree that Dean wasn't saying anything other people on the show and this forum were.  Objectively, I can see how Karen is quite amusing but I still don't like her.  Have to say Ziggy was being very mature about it, but that's only because she kissed Dean when she was still with Tane.  At least they appear to have reconciled for now.

although nothing to do with them Tane and Mali

Well, they were living with Mackenzie at the time!

Dean continues to be more than a little stubborn, when even Karen has realised the situation might be more complex than "He cheated on his wife so we should throw rotten eggs at him." I guess he's at least trying to make an effort now. And Levi made the point that it took Eden a long time to accept them together as well. (Abby was pretty much there the moment she turned up.) The fact that Ziggy's pregnant just kind of gets dropped in there: For someone who was once adamant he'd never have children, Dean seems to be putting together quite the football team!

It was nice to get some back story for Eliza, with the reveal of her being forcibly removed from her parents and then her grandmother dying. I'm guessing that's it for her as far as the youth programme is concerned, and we'll see if Roo follows through on her having to go to school otherwise. She is quite lucky she's not being charged.Marilyn's about turn beggared belief: One minute she's being all kindly towards Eliza, then she suddenly wants her locked up because...she smiled at her? It wasn't even a particularly sinister smile, in fact it was the most friendly she's ever been towards Marilyn! But yes, I'm getting Heather vibes from her too and wouldn't be surprised if it turned out she killed her grandmother. (On the other hand, given previous information, wouldn't she have been about ten at the time?) Seemed to be a slight continuity error: Marilyn says Eliza's home early but the session already seemed to be finished when she lost it at Scott.

Kirby seems surprisingly keen on a solo career given how it went last time, but I guess it wouldn't mean leaving Lyrik in the lurch now and her only other option is not doing music at all. Mali and Abigail seem to be falling into that couples pattern of having a new problem each week which then gets solved in the next episode!

I found Dean very funny with Levi and thank goodness they went to visit I don’t think I could have watched Mac drag Levi away to the bedroom for a week Ziggy seems to have chilled out a lot since she left that’s a ridiculous garden they have with that view

Shame Eliza was close to maybe making a friend with Scott there before taking her phone

Alf was thinking about not helping Martha after having storm damage that was funny too but I guess she doesn’t come awhile maybe he is living with a psycho Carrie girl

But men don't get called women eaters.😁  Women usually get called a lot worse.

Tane and Mali aren't relatives of Mac though, just her lodgers.

May have seemed what she thought was  wise move for Roo to ask Cash to speak to Eliza but she certainly couldn't have known how Eliza  would react the way she did.  It did prompt her to ask if Cash could find out more about Eliza's history before she went into  care, are the SW's not allowed to reveal that to  the next foster carer?  I'm guessing Cash didn't or couldn't say why she was forcibly  removed from her parents, I felt it couldn't have been something she was responsible for otherwise they wouldn't have sent her to her grandmother.  But her grandmother dying and she had been hiding in a wardrobe did  ring alarm 🔔's.   She was fixated on the fact Scott had 'stolen' her phone, something Roo had given her so it was 'hers'.  I'm totally theorising her  but maybe she never had much to call her own, so that is why she is so protective of her jewellery box. I'm still  not, unlike others, thinking she's evil, but does have some really psychological problems which have never been picked up on.  That smile was a bit out there though, it started off genuine but changed.  Cash couldn't do anything as Scott's parents decided not to press charges.  It was mentioned when Roo told Marilyn and Alf about Eliza first coming that she had been in care since she was 10 and is now 14.  It did definitely put the kibosh on  her attending Tane's Youth Programme.  I'm supposing she had been at a school before she came to the bay?

I must be the only one glad to see Dean, Ziggy and Karen.  Oh and it was deftly mentioned in passing Ziggy is 12 weeks gone, I'm supposing Karen doesn't know yet as Ziggy neatly dodged the beer Karen offered her.  I thought one of the reasons Dean didn't want children was because he was worried they would inherit his mum's and maybe his mental health problems.  Once it was pointed out by Ziggy that Mac and Levi have been together a year now, so not a fling Karen did soften a bit.   Dean did get worn down by the ladies in his life 😀 as it seems they are going on  a  road trip - YEH!   Wasn't Dean anti Colby when he and Mac got together?

Sonny has revived Kirby's thoughts about a solo career.  She, as she said to Justin wouldn't be deserting Lyrik as it is no more. I think she loves her teaching surfing side of her job but it's the rest of it.  She is getting more distracted when working in the shop.  Rather sweet she's aske Justin to be her manager, hopefully this time round she'll be more wary of what she signs up for.

I find Mali and Abby's to and froing quite amusing, both keep apologisng for any misunderstandings they keep having with what's been said/done.

No spoilers as we saw them in the trailer but it looked the RB's have arrived back in the bay.  It looked like one of them was tempting Sonny as he of course has no idea of who they are.

Mackenzie's indicated in the past that she considers Mali and Tane family, certainly more than "lodgers".(This is Summer Bay, the found family capital of soaps!) Eliza recalled going to school but not getting on with the other children. Karen got beers for herself and Dean and wondered if Ziggy wanted a soft drink, which I took as a sign she did know, but maybe there was some detail on Monday that I missed.

Today and we're again in that weird twilight zone of episodes that aren't shown on Channel 5, with the 1.45pm showing having moved to 5* for the rest of the week.Well, Sonny finally pushed things too far.As Bree noted, he seems to have some affection for Remi but also a lot of bitterness and jealousy. While he has a reputation as a bit of a "woman-eater", there was probably an aspect of wanting something of Remi's. It wasn't clear whether it was Bree or Sonny who filled Remi in, but either way it's enough for him to have had enough.Whilst Remi might have a trust fund now, he survived for years while seemingly not asking for anything from his family, which Sonny doesn't seem to grasp.

Kirby brings out the big guns in the shape of Theo in order to convince Justin to be her manager.Well, I can understand her not wanting another Forrest and instead being keen to have someone who will work with her and respect what she wants.I get the logic of asking Remi for a loan before a bank but I can also see why Kirby wouldn't want to go there, especially with the timing being what it is.

Marilyn goes to Irene to unload about Eliza but gets thwarted by the schedule.I'm assuming her comment about Jett being troubled when he came to live with "us" referred to the Bay in general: He famously mugged Marilyn shortly after he arrived, but he was pretty well-adjusted by the time she moved in with him and John and certainly by the time they adopted him.It seemed like Irene was getting a bit too fixated on her schedule but she ended up giving Dana a logical explanation for why she's reluctant to attend the wedding.

True, Mac did see Mali and Tane as 'family'.   It had been mentioned Eliza didn't get on with the other kids at her last school, we all know how cruel kids can be if someone is 'different' as in Eliza being fostered, which is why Roo offered her home schooling, not that there has been much of that.  My mind must be going but I though Karen had offered Ziggy  a beer.

I'm glad I have Freeview so I've been able to watch the 5* episodes.  Back to normal next Monday.

Remi obviously charmed Bree's mum, though he's an old hand at charming the ladies.   She did ask the age old question of "What do you do for a loving?" Which has prompted him to get a regular job as a session musician.

Sonny really overstepped the mark, OK both Sonny and Bree were  a bit tipsy and her saying how it was for her due to having no money and  having to work her way through Med school, but didn't Jacob also help support her her? made her more sympathetic but he so misread the signals.  I suppose the difference there was Sonny had - or rather his parents did  have money - until they lost it so knew privilege.  He  made a couple of jibes at Remi last night regards his sudden wealth which Remi finally picked up on.  I think I've said before I think Sonny's problem with Remi is he walked away from his rich life whereas Sonny lost his.  Remi has never taken any money from his family, their lifestyle and type of music wasn't for him so went his own way.  Remi was a bit slow not noticing Sonny still had his credit card. I know Sonny has been hitting  it pretty hard but I don't suppose he's made much of  a dent in   five mil $?  I think Theo is uncomfortable  about Sonny still using Remi's card especially now he's been kicked out and he's heard Sonny's snide comments.

Anyhoo it looks like things could be going a different way for Sonny with that meeting up with Gabe, Theo had departed before we saw the Blood & Sand tat, we know what it means but Sonny wouldn't know  a RB if he  fell over him.

Yep ultra bad timing Kirby needing to ask Remi for a loan, but it could be put on  a business footing and she, Justin and Remi could get  a contract set up and put in writing. I hope Justin tells Leah about him becoming Kirby's manager - no secrets remember. Remi does know how good Kirby is so not a  fly by night and Lyrik used to play her music after all.   Perhaps Justin needs to step in and broker the deal if Kirby feels uncomfortable about broaching it to Remi.

Not Maz's fault about the bad timing wanting to speak to Irene about Eliza.  I'm guessing she may have meant the Royal 'we' as Jett originally lived with John and Gina and they were just about to adopt him when she died.

I said ages ago the reason why Irene didn't want go to the wedding was because of all the booze there would be sloshing about, not just 'seeing' it but the smell of it.   I know Dana said she'd look out for her but Irene said she didn't want that.  Good idea of Dana's -  see she does have them - for Irene to go back to the Diner, not full time of course, but a  few hours a week would break her in gently and get her used to dealing with the general public again, as so far all the people Irene has had contact with is her friends.

As someone who only ever has the basic package of free channels, I'm again rather bemused at the idea of 5* not being as easy to watch as Channel 5. And failing that, there's always the website!

Anyway, for those of us who found the episode (I almost always watch the 6pm showing on 5* so it's business as usual here!), I must admit I forgot that moment of Sonny meeting Gage, the apparent new River Boy leader, yesterday, but he was hard to miss here.Theo realises these aren't the sort of people to mess with but quickly gets reeled in by a pretty face, not that I don't understand him liking the look of Lacey (as the credits named her) despite her odd choice of boyfriend! Sonny made a decent foil for him. Has Theo told Justin and Leah that they've got a new house guest? (And where is Leah? An episode with Justin, Theo, and Irene started back at the Diner, and she's conspicuous by her absence!)

Irene seemed to be doing well until she went missing on the trip back to the Diner. She assumed that everyone knows she's been in rehab, which begs the question of does Eden know if Irene's hoping to be served alcohol at Salt. Cash gets the promotion and Rose gets to break the news: Well, they weren't going to give it to one of the extras, were they? (Even Jo Devlin's bombed off to Reefton Lakes!)

Justin did a very good job of dropping Kirby in it there, but thankfully Remi's still in a good mood with her even if he's not with Sonny, and remembered all the times she's been the household's main breadwinner. Justin seems to be enjoying this management thing, even if he did forget the champagne!
