H&Alover Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 (edited) Eliza is one complex character for someone so young, you can't put your finger why she is the way she is, she seems very distanced from everyone whether that is because she doesn't know how to relate to people or something in her life we don't know about. She has given Roo the odd hug but was that something she's been 'taught' to do. I had the same instinct about Roo's reaction when Marilyn tentatively approached her about her missing money, she'd already told Alf about it, and then querying what Eliza had been looking up online. She was very defensive which said to me she does have her own doubts but doesn't want to face them. Eliza was very off with Maz. How come Roo managed to get Eliza in Tane's class so quickly? Roo did have to bribe Eliza to get her to go to Tane's class which isn't a good sign, is she going to have to keep doing that to make sure she keeps going? On an aside Tane had to tell Roo to buzz off when she wanted to hang around to see how Eliza got on so good on him. Eliza is just as fascinated as she was before with Harper and her pregnancy now she's stolen the latest scan photo. But fortunately or unfortunately for him as it turned out Scott spotted her. He didn't want to dob her in but he warned her he would but he didn't get the chance - she can certainly pack a punch and I'm NOT being sexist, I'm guessing Scott won't tell Tane what happened, he'll just avoid her from now on. Very odd behaviour when she was with him and Tane later she was just standing there watching him bleed though Tane had asked her to get a glass of water. I'm hoping Tane mentions it to Roo. Sonny did take it well and although I had my doubts if he was telling the truth about his nan dying when Bree said it had been a sad day it turned out he was as Remi confirmed it so apologies Sonny. I'm hoping that hug was a friendly hug. Theo did put Sonny in his place when he said Remi had a charmed life by telling about him being run off the road and not suffering the odd scratch but had nearly died. He does like working on Theo's car so looked disappointed when Theo said he was working at the Caravan Park to get some extra dosh so decided to join him. He did look a tad nonplussed when he found what it involved, Alf certainly had some tasks mapped out for Theo, but to him he got stuck in. Though of course it did mean they could finish early so could get back to the car so not entirely altruistic on his part. I may being suspicious but why did he give Theo his half of the money? Is Sonny a qualified mechanic or just likes messing about with engines? I suppose Justin could offer him a job at the garage either way? Edited May 4 by H&Alover 1 Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted May 2 Report Posted May 2 Alf's episode count this week:Three, and he was credited on Tuesday for no appearance. I agree that it seems at times as though Roo is trying to convince herself when it comes to Eliza.Even at the end of this episode, she doesn't have the full story and continues to believe that Scott provoked Eliza.I do think Tane's oversimplifying when he said that Eliza enjoyed hitting Scott: I don't think she's sorry, but I'm not sure how much enjoyment she got from it.I definitely don't think Tane should give up on Eliza after one session, but setting ground rules is the right idea. She didn't exactly seem receptive though. As with a lot of what she does, it's hard to tell to what extent she was genuinely hurt by the idea of Roo giving up on her and to what extent she's manipulating the situation. Abigail was being very irritating and needy and seemed to have forgotten her assertion that she and Mali need to stop being in each other's pockets, expecting him to neglect his work and spend time with her.I'm surprised he was won over so easily. It's a shame that poor timing means Mali ends up moving back in (which neither of them really agreed to!). I certainly take Levi's point that he needs to meet Dean some time if he's going to have a life with Mackenzie, but he seems to be assuming a lot.Nice to hear that Imogen seems to be doing well. H&Alover Posted May 4 Report Posted May 4 It seemed Tane did see Eliza hit Scott so did the right thing about telling Roo, but then Eliza lied to Roo about why she hit him. Roo did rather bully Tane into giving Eliza another chance, but he can't really be seen to have 'favourites', it'd give the others the wrong impression and may not loo good for any further classes/courses he wants to hold it TPTB hear about it. OK Eliza has apologised to Tane but shouldn't she be apologising to Scott! Tane is taking his courses seriously as because of course at one time, as we saw when we first saw him he had a bad rep, he was them and he didn't have this way out so wants to give them the chance he never had. That apology to Tane about stealing the ultra scan photo was pretty half hearted, but I think he was letting it go as he was just glad to get it back in one piece. What is the fascination with Harper's ultra scan and her comment that some babies are born and some die? Why did SS - or whatever the equivalent is in Australia - put Eliza into Roo's care, was it because she just happened to be next on the list? They would know Eliza's history and why she's been in foster care for four years so I'm guessing they know she has problems so why place her with a newbie who has no experience of handling a troubled teen. That was certainly one hell of a rant from Eliza towards Roo. As said before it seems Eliza has been through a few foster homes so may have seen both sides, the good ones like Roo who do care for their charges and those who just care about the money they get for each of them. Abigail is another troubled soul, they do tend to gravitate to the bay don't they? It was good Mali put his foot down and told her how it was which she did accept and she owned up the fact her leaving him in the lurch would mean he'd be short staffed so she should have waited until he'd got someone new. She was up for helping him when she wasn't working in Salt, dare say they can arrange it so they are not working together. Especially as it seems they'll be living together again just as they agreed it wouldn't be a good idea. Levi has made a 360% turn in that regard. OK Mac's recent absence from Salt was to visit her sick mum but she's only just come back and is now off again! I'm supposing from Mac's reaction to Levi's brilliant idea they stay with Ziggy and Dean in Queensland is down to her knowing how Dean would react to seeing Levi. She must have filled him in at some point in the past. We did see from the trailer how welcoming Dean was - . Mac is a fully grown woman though and knew what she was getting into. Maybe Levi didn't tell her he was married when they first got together but if I remember correctly he did tell her before they slept together so the choice was hers if they went ahead. Funny how sometimes we can work out how an one sided conversation is going - as it was with Levi and Imogen's. These no blame divorces do get settled very quickly - he only started the ball rolling when Mac went to see her mum - didn't he with a bit of prompting from Abigail? Went amicably enough and it was good to know she'd found someone new. Quote
pembie Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 I’m behind in episodes just since Irene return from Rehab Spoiler For her exit I could see her maybe committing suicide but they probably wouldn’t be that brave to go that dark I did think Rose got her detective approval bit too easily Quote

It’s gout they kept Rose pretty straight for all her run and kept respecting they going turn Rose into breaking rules but other then searching for her dad she never break rules to much of extreme as ever other cop on this show at least since Jack Holden would be booted off forced. Slade Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 I've not read through any of the previous comments since I last posted so I don't know what people have said. I'm probably going to repeat what has already been mentioned and get the "I said that" from the usual suspects but I will just summarise my thoughts as of late anyway. I've thoroughly disliked Cash through this whole trying to protect Eden thing. He's messed Eden around and almost ruined Tim's life. Even though Eden kissed Cash, I did still have sympathy for her. I actually found Nerida less objectionable than Cash (that's how bad I thought he was). I wonder if she's going to end up at the same place as Heather. I think it says a lot about Tim actually. Nerida almost kills him and he's still sympathetic towards her (I did find it hard to get my head around her taking out Cash, Tim turning away from her the getting taking out himself and her taking out Mali at the Caravan Park). Furthermore, he was prepared to step out of the way so Cash and Eden could be together. Don't recall seeing any scars from Bree drilling a hole in his head. I was glad Remi had a go at Cash and I was loving his anti Cash/Eden stance as he was one of the few people that had the bottle to tell it how like it was and not just pander to them. I can't blame Eden for giving Cash another chance but I hope she's made the right decision this time. I have to admit they have settled down now and haven't been too bad as of late. Tane and Harper. It was clear from how Harper was acting previously that everything in her gut was telling her getting married to Tane is the wrong choice. I have to say Mackenzie's reaction to their engagement was priceless. She can be really funny sometimes (also her conversation with Theo when he said he and Abi were a thing for a day and a half). Levi's reaction upon finding out was amusing as well. Whilst I'm probably always going to dislike Dana, she was basically right about them and Tane specifically. So I'm surprised she's onboard now and back to referring to Tane as the demigod because he bought Harper a really nice engagement ring and wants to whisk Harper away to Japan for the honeymoon. Tane has admitted to Cash that he's not in love with Harper and he's only doing things because he's obligated to and for the sake of his kid which is admirable in one sense but not good in the long term for either of them. My sympathy is still very much with Harper because she's going to end up getting hurt bad, although it is partly her fault. I'm not sorry to see the back of Xander. I didn't actively dislike him as such but I didn't really find him to be a very interesting character at all. I honestly wish Dana would have gone with him as I'm can't stand her and still find her highly annoying such as the way she was acting towards Cash not wanting to be best man at Tane/Harper's wedding and how when Irene didn't want John involved in her recovery Dana brought John round to hers anyway. It's a shame having to put up with her and we're going to lose Rose, one of the few characters I actually quite like. Eliza. Oh boy. I actually think she's quite an interesting character. I should really reserve judgement but she comes across as...sociopathic. The first thing to note is how she interacts with people. She never says hello/goodbye or really thanks anybody for doing something. It doesn't feel like she's doing it to be purposely rude. It genuinely comes across as though there's a serious disconnect and doesn't have the capacity to engage like a normal person (e.g. walking up to Harper and touching her baby bump without asking) or have any remorse, empathy or compassion. There is also a concern that she started the fire at the last home she was at, but what's even more worrying is the obsession with cutting people open, blood, medical instruments since her conversation with Levi (although it was probably there before that). Given her lack of social skills it's be hard to see how she can be integrated into the show. In one hand, I do admire Roo for her dedication because she genuinely wants to help Eliza but even she knows that there is something seriously wrong. Literally every other person has pegged it, Marilyn (even excluding the stolen money), Leah (saying Eliza's different), Tane not wanting her to continue the Youth programme because he knows something seriously wrong with her. Hitting the guy last week because he threatened to tell Tane she stole the ultrasound picture is a huge concern when you factor in the fire. If she's this bad now as a 14 year old, if she doesn't get help, she's going to be very dangerous when she's an adult and someone is seriously going to get hurt. Roo is clearly out of her depth here, although I do hope Eliza sticks around for a little while as I want to see if it's even possible to change her. I'm going to have to find time to go through the previous posts to get people's thoughts on the above. Quote
Red Ranger 1 Posted May 5 Report Posted May 5 Well, Dean isn't any more charming than he used to be, determined to take offence at anything Levi said while insulting him with anything he said.Still, let's be honest, he didn't say anything that people on here and people on the show weren't saying when he and Mackenzie first hooked up.Tane and Mali weren't at all happy with him to start with, Eden and Felicity even less so.So while we've had a year to get used to the idea, this is Dean's first chance to have his say.On the other hand, what's he hoping to achieve? He's driven Levi away, but he's driven Mackenzie away too, which he probably didn't want.It was also poor timing for this to happen while Karen was there being her usual indiscreet self. Eliza continues to be a troubling enigma.I have to agreed with Slade's assessment above about her seeming completely disconnected from everything and not quite seeming to understand the appropriate way to behave around people. On the other hand, there is a certain vulnerability about her. There are moments where she does seem genuinely touched by the effort Roo makes for her, and even though I suspect she was mainly doing it because it makes life easier for herself, she seemed to be doing her best to behave the way she's supposed to at the class. But then, of course, she snapped. In her head, it was probably perfectly reasonable:Scott had taken something of hers and she was making it give him back. But it was a pretty extreme way of doing it, and as Tane says, she needs to learn to control this sort of impulse.(I did find myself wondering what Karen was like at that age, with them both being in the same episode.More gregarious probably, but quite likely with the same tendency to do what seemed right at the time without thinking of the consequences.)It's pretty obvious that the sequence got trimmed by Channel 5 to remove some of the shots of the broken bottle, mainly because Roo suddenly appears out of nowhere! More trouble between Mali and Abigail again, with them almost reversing.Mali seems to want to go back to what it was like when they were last living together, while Abigail wants to prove she can survive on her own.Even if he's right, Mali's comments about Eliza seemed unfair: I'm not sure he's ever even met her, and he just seems to be gossiping based on what Tane's said. H&Alover Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 It was lovely seeing Dean and Ziggy again and a hidden bonus Karen! Of course not forgetting little Izzy. He's done very well for himself it seems, going by the place they are living in - does proves a bad boy can turn his life around. Let's not forget Ziggy was quite a wild child in her youth. My memory is failing me why did they leave SB and move to Queensland? Just looked it up it was he could be nearer his son Jai. That was two years ago. At least Dean kept his insults verbal and didn't hit Levi but Karen was ready to chuck in her two pennorth. She'd had a fling with a married man - Rick - Mac's dad but he was well known for being a womaniser unlike Levi. It was the first time Dean and Levi had met so of course he - Dean - wouldn't know what type of guy Levi is. Dean seems to forget Levi did save Mac's life. Going off on a tandem somewhat a guy who has several affairs is called a womaniser but if a woman does the same is she called a maniser? It does happen - a husband/wife has an affair and he/she does fall in love with the person they are having the affair with and stay with them and don't cheat. Levi did eventually tell Imogen. As you said Red, the others like Eden, Abbey, Flick and although nothing to do with them Tane and Mali have come to terms with it and know Levi's feelings for Mac are genuine. But Dean and Karen don't know him yet, though Ziggy is more accepting of them being a couple and was trying to keep the peace. Nothing to do with the SL but did Eden, Abbey and Levi's dad stay with the women he left their mum for? Eliza really has never had a mobile of her own? Not even knowing how to put numbers in it, I have probs but I'm old but kids her age and younger learn it like they do their ABC's. No wonder she got so upset - to put it mildly - when Scott snatched it to put his number in it, any other teenage kid wouldn't be at all bothered but she couldn't grasp that is what they do so that is why she so overreacted - in her head it was hers. Roo did kind of set down some rules, Eliza either goes back to Tane's classes and gets into her home schooling or she goes to proper school. She and Scott seemed to be getting on well until that moment him even joking about her not hitting his face again. Something else Eliza couldn't grasp was the fact she hit Scott and was told off for it but Tane was teaching boxing lessons which involves hitting people, though he did explain it was more self defence. Anyhoo, it does make her still being in the programme very unlikely, a punch is one thing, but threatening someone with a broken bottle is completely different. Roo always appears out of nowhere. Was a twist of Abbey seemingly stalking Mali then him appearing to do the same when he got snappy about her coming home late and not letting him know. No, it's nothing to do with him being controlling it's just a decent thing to do, if it was a bloke not letting their other half know they were hanging back at work and had eaten there women would be up in arms about it. He did make that meal for them to I guess celebrate it being their first night being back together and on their own. At least they're not a boring couple. Quote
CaptainHulk Posted May 6 Report Posted May 6 (edited) Anyone else go "Hah!" Loudly When Mac (Don't like her that much myself) pointed out Karen's hypocrisy? No? just me, then... And Roo needs to nip down to St James Church fast and get some holy water for her latest charge! Edited May 6 by CaptainHulk Quote
