I'd have expected Ada to say something as well when Charlie had to say Zac's line about taking Irene to Leah.

Luke39 Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 VJ was invited, but he diddn't go on board. Yeah it was a tad unrealistic, even Lynne said so. I suspect H and A need Lynne, just like Ray. More then they need them. So She is free to be honest publically. But end of day she does not write the show. And their has been stories of actors on this show trying to re write the script. Ala Luke and Robert for the Romeo Cancer Storyline. But they are just the actors, the moneys good so you know. Seems a bit reckless from the writers, I know atm on Shortland Street, Rachel is coping with her Alcaolism again. I Think Shorty are doing it better.
Wanderer101 Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Probably not the best idea for an alcoholic to go to a winery, but it's still possible to go to a winery for a get together, without drinking. And I don't see how whether or not Lynne said it is relevant. Claims don't all of a sudden become more true based on who says it.

I don't doubt Lynne's professionalism, I like it when actors seem to make sure that their character is as realistic as possible and point out inconsistencies with the writers/producers if they make a mistake, when possible of course. I think in terms of continuity when you've been in a show for such a long time it should sort of become more of a collaborative effort with the actors sort of editing and making sure continuity is right for their character which helps new writers + producers keep up to speed. Having said that Irene's alcoholism was right at the forefront less than 10 months ago and used to play a huge part in Irene's character.

I don't have a problem with Irene being there but she could have at least either made a joke about it or have another character ask her if she'll be ok with it. But it's the writers responsibility to know the characters they are writing for and always keep their history in mind. There should be a bible they consult. Corrie have one. This is the problem with having the show so plot based nowadays.
