Sunny Girl Posted September 12, 2016 Report Posted September 12, 2016 I suppose so. They do mention it in a throw away manner every few years or so.

Irene was pretty much the only person in town who was on Dodge's side rather than Steven's (Dodge had met Nathan in jail and so managed to win her over) - so when Dodge was exposed, and it was revealed he'd also been the one who killed Irene's ex-husband, she had to eat humble pie. 53 minutes ago, Luke39 said: So did they just forget Irene has a drinking problem? I understand she got it in control. But they hardly reference it. I guess lately they do alot of storylines, and then drop them. It's had numerous references over the years - as well as her relapse in 2009 and the (brief) one she had earlier this year/last year.

When they last addressed it. They haven't mentioned her driinking since.
cadyctslover Posted September 13, 2016 Report Posted September 13, 2016 They haven't mentioned it since this year, and it's completely unrealistic that it would be resolved so neatly. However it has allowed the writers to focus their efforts on this terrible storyline with Mick and Billie/VJ2.
Jeremai Posted September 14, 2016 Report Posted September 14, 2016 You'd think she might be a little tempted though after the ordeal with Mick!

Sorry I didn't watch this episode. The Flames (aka Alf) tore her a new one for defending Dodge against Steven when Stevo supposedly "killed" him on that ferry trip to raise money for the bushfire victims during the benefit concert. It shook her up that bad, even after Alf apologized she wrestled with the thought of drinking and there was cliffhanger with her sat with the bottle. In the end. She ended up dashing the lot down the sink.
Jamie! Posted September 23, 2016 Report Posted September 23, 2016 I thought it was strange how they had Irene as part of the group that flew to the winery, when she's an alcoholic.

I did too, they had an alcoholic, a pregnant girl and Duncan even invited VJ who is underage!
CaptainHulk Posted September 24, 2016 Report Posted September 24, 2016 PMSL. Writers probably were drinking something stronger than Wine! ?
Dan F Posted September 24, 2016 Report Posted September 24, 2016 Quote from Lynne herself: "She's an alcoholic. Who would send an alcoholic to a winery? Now there's a good idea," she says, laughing. "I think that one slipped through quite frankly. I don't think anyone thought it through. Anyway, Irene would have had a nice time drinking tea and eating scones – if we got there." http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/83326854/Will-Home-And-Aways-Irene-survive-the-plane-crash
