I did actually decide I was the Purple Ranger, the handsome, intelligent and charming sixth or seventh member, in one of my worrying self-inserting splinter universes.On the grounds it was a colour they were unlikely to ever use and, I believe, never have.Even went to the trouble of drawing a Purple Ranger once... I keep looking at threads and going "Oh, one of the purples has posted in here...Oh, hang on, that's me." Quote

You know what? If Rabbit is going to find someone special for Miles, I think that woman should have a child. Miles is great with children. Jen Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 Interesting twist, with Miles sending Rabbit off on her own, to indirectly save Nicole. Bear with me. I have this sort of theory that maybe Rabbit can only connect with those who have seen death (ala thestrals). So, in the case of Miles, Rabbit is obviously his deceased daughter. With, Marilyn it was her son. So, maybe the person who ended up finding Nicole is someone who has experienced something similar. Alternatively, I could be reading way too much into this, and completely on the wrong path. Awesome story, Red . Quote

Dexter shrugged. “I would say I’m pleased to see you but I can never remember whether I’m supposed to like you or not.” So true. Dexter looked uncomfortably at Lucas. “If you want to go in and pretend we misheard that last bit…” Dex is so sensitive. Your characterisation of him is so good. I could read Dex's awkward interactions with everyone for days. “Okay! Feel free to continue the sudden tense atmosphere while I’m gone.” Rabbit shrugged.“I just figured if anyone was weird enough to start hearing voices, it was him.” Seems legit. Dex as an unlikely hero may just be my new favourite thing. It's so great, because everyone's reaction is sort of like, "Why Dex?" So great. Lucas shrugged.“It’s okay.I remember what it’s like to have one of those.” Clutching my heart. Man, I wasn't ready for the heavy emotional stuff. But that one line really made me sit up and take notice. And then your explanation of Lucas moving around not really finding what he was looking for when everyone else seemed to have their lives sorted. It's a completely in-character thing to reason, and I totally feel like it could be true in canon as well. Lucas/Nicole has been a surprise pairing in this fic, but I'm totally on board with them now. “Maybe she was our daughter from the future, sending a message back along the timelines to save your life so you don’t die before we conceive her!”Dexter noticed Nicole’s look.“It’s possible.Haven’t you seen Back to the Future?” “Yes, I suppose it is at the farthest reaches of possibility.But until I get the sudden urge to procreate with you…” “You want me to go away and send Lucas in?” “Wow, you really can tell the future.” Favourite part of the whole thing. I have a thing for Dex/Nicole in general -- Dex being her friend and maybe secretly being in love with her -- so this just hit all the right buttons. Because it was funny and touching and Dex is awesome, so yeah. So many bonus points right here. Quote

Generally I echo what Jen said: Dex is the hero And not knowing whether he's supposed to like Romeo or not Considering what's been going on in other fanfics at the moment, its probably Romeo who wouldn't like him Poor Lucas remembering Jack protecting him And it all fits with him leaving Summer Bay but really feeling aimless. Then coming back to find Nicole! That is so sweet. I can imagine she is strong enough to motivate him and stop him just wandering round pointlessly. Wonder what Geoff and Aden would think of him and Nicole? And I liked that Nicole just took in her stride what Dex said about their daughter from the future and didn't get shocked. She just accepted that he says things like that some times. And this fits with another certin fanfic I read lately, whose could I mean Jen? April/Xavier When he saved her at Ruby's party in the series I had the feeling they should get back together and That Woman Who Stole My Name should get lost. Well done, Red. You've added lots of stuff to make us all think and talk and relate to real and fictional stories with all these characters. Masterful. Quote
