bell Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 good idea, i'll see if i can concoct something but my brains working overtime at the moment and so is a bit busy, but maybe soon hmmmm what could i do... also im really not very good at english, does that matter?
sevenpuddings Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 It shouldn't matter. I was thinking maybe we could have a ruling about proof reading? It would simply be spelling and puncuation, because then it would help with the overall quailty of the stories, just by tidying them up. But theres the problem of someone else reading your story, knowing which one it is, then voting for it. Any ideas? Also, bell, you've got a month to write it, so don't go stressing yourself out please! You've got ages to come up with a story!
Nicom Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 Well, I guess we could do proof reading... Hmm... Maybe, after the deadline, we count how many entrys that want proof reading and then hopefully i'll get an equal amount of proof readers to help out. Then, if you could, you maybe could send a fic out to each of the proof readers? You'd have to make sure that you don't send a proof readers fic to themselves though.. lol I think that if we didn't proof read then it may give the better writers more of an advantage, which wouldn't be fair, BUT it's a quite confusing to do.. I couldn't even explain it properly! Lol.
sevenpuddings Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 If someone else is willing to share the fics with me, I was thinking that maybe two or three of us could share the fics between us, then not vote. That way we're not biased or anything. I think all fics should be proof read, because it does equal out the table. Besides, not everyone here has english as their first language, and proof reading gives them a better shot too!
Nicom Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I just thought I'd post here telling you that I can't enter the comp after all! I've got a whopping story - 6400 words. lol. It'd be impossible to shorten it down by 1400 words, so I have no choice but to not enter! (I'm trying to act all cool and calm, but I'm flipping furious at myself lol) The worst part is, I've fitted everything else in it too!! Grrr.... I don't know what I was thinking, fighting my ramblosity. lol. It won, again. Nicole - 0 Ramblosity - 5 (one day my score will go up!! Lol.)
Jess Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Is there no way you can shorten it? If not, will you just post it anyway?
bell Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 awwww nicole thats so annoying. please post it anyway or pleed for the stories to be allowed longer!
Nicom Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Well, I'm trying to go through it and I've currently taken about 400 words off... it's still alot over though. lol. If I were to post it it'd have to be a while a way, a bit after this competition is over (I wouldn't want to get people confused as it follows the same guidelines as a comp entry) and then I'm unsure if I would, as it'd be a bit wierd me posting similar stories to other people, weeks afterwards.. lol. It's a shame, but I only have myself to blame! Lol. *hits head*
Jess Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 You could just put a note at the beginning saying that due to your rambliosity, the story didn't fit the competition guidelines.
sevenpuddings Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 That kinda of sucks Nicole. Do you think maybe I could have a read of the story to make some suggestions about shortening it? Then maybe you'd be able to enter? Also, I'd do this for anyone else who is over the word limit, or unsure of their story, just so it isn't unfair to the other entries.
