Does H&A need an overhaul at the moment?
CaptainHulk replied to adam436's topic in General Discussion
Give it time, Frow and C5 will put a knife in this show's back, too. But unlike the other Aussie show, they'd get a broadcaster just like that. Probably thinking one down, one to go. Neighbours was to do with the money. The Marilyn retcon has kind of wound me up a little because her 1995 return demonized Phil without real reason (though let's be real, he probably was looking for a younger model, but still) I just about came to terms with the Martha one. Mind you they're not the first soap to pull infuriating retcons (Emmerdale, Shadrach supposedly being a Racist on top of a Domestic abuser or Enders with the Tom/Dotty/Nick mess, which thankfully they put right). Back to H&A, It's just whenever someone new is introduced, their links to the area are tenuous as and someone/something is chasing them. OK, it worked for a few people but c'mon! -

I've said for a good while there's a distinct lack of balance. Most of the action is at NDH or YCPS these days. The removal of the school and teens plays a part in the flatness. And this last shower of characters just don't gel for me. Lyrik are bleh, Cash is boring and Jasmine's siblings, Just why? There's a blatant divide. Lucy gotta go but replacing her will be harder. -

Sorry. Don't particularly like him. -
Coleby himself said Roman "had an arc" but he was one of the better characters from that era.

Not even a lie but Him and C5 aren't my on radar these days. Walked away in July, don't regret it. -

They're dropping boxset bombs this week in fairness,so people can fly in first hand instead of waiting. -
That was the last ep I saw before I went on Holiday to the States for two weeks that year. When I got back we were in the midst of Alex's brain injury/Chloe's rape.

No this was 2004 when the little fart came back and tried to pick up with Jade again, crippled Seb and antagonised Kim, Robbie and Jesse. It was in the diner Kitchen and I think Alf took a pepperpot? to it. Morag had also come back. It was in the 3720s. You're mixing it up with the "Leather of My Belt" Incident 3yrs earlier, which took place in the surf club. I trawled the summaries to find exact ep but some big gaps there.

First look has always been the draw on thst channel, in the "Emergency Era", viewership knocked often on the door of 1m. And back then it was probably a stringer show (more community minded but left you wanting MORE) They may just ease it there if thr lunchtime ratings "displease" Lord Frow...? Digitalspy, oy... the people on the forum and Socials can be pretty toxic. -

He's NEVER going to get it on *that* "channel". C5 is Television's equivalent of the Sun -

Ben Frow sees himself as Todd trying to hold on to Glen. I see him as Diana pushing Paul. -

Yeah but where would it go in the UK? . ITV wouldn't touch it again and the Beeb would insist some CHANGES (ones a lot people wouldn'tkike(. C4 but even they're picky. As for Channel 5 themselves, As long as it involves the four Bs, Benefits, Baliffs, Burglars and Battering rams, they DON'T care about anything else. -
Maz was reported as 22 in 1990 Palmer did lie about his age to make himself younger in a birthday ep lol

Eras of Ailsa's characterisation
CaptainHulk replied to nenehcherry2's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Duncan giving out to Alf over acting like Ailsa never existed would have been a decent scene and would have added further to his emotions (Caroline not to long having died and him having cared for her in her final days and now being all Bryxe has) Then Alf would counter with how out of control Duncan was before and after Ailsa's death. Ray and Benedict would have made it work and seem organic. -

With Curtis/Laura, Ailsa was left to steer the ship alone (Store, Diner, Duncan, etc) and weather the storm (Laura's death, Curtis drinking, etc) as Alf was in Fiji at the time. The Robbery was the final straw. -
Dammit, Beat me to it. But yeah, Tom said Hitler (Reviewing the Pilot myself) Don did march around like he was Adolf Fisher at times to be fair lol. And Celia most likely would have been his Ava Braun!

If we can have Male Leslies, Staceys and Ashley's, then we can gave female Shane's, or those that go against "The way things should be?" And Rachel was Jesse's *daughter* for crying out loud! He may have been a crim and on the violent side (stint 2) but he was no kiddy fiddler!

IMO, It's still Neighbours and true to itself more than some of the other soaps out there. As long as there's a Ramsay, a Robinson or Kennedy in it, I'm still with it.

Jane was at #32 for a bit but now seems to have moved over to Number 24 with Nic and Chloe. Paul lives at #22, think he bought #26 and rents it to Sheila Canning and her Grandsons.

Great stuff, I just got done with a MAMMOTH catchup spaced out over a few months. Never a dull moment
