continued......... EXT, SUMMER BAY BEACH. Kat Chapman spots the 2 men hurrying away through the dunes, away from the surf club. She gives chase and radios for backup. KAT Hey!!!! Kat chases the 2 men through the dunes and into woodland, running over bracken and other vegetation to catch them. They are running towards the Yabbie Creek road. Luckily 2 of Kat's colleagues catch up with them and apprehend them. The 3rd person keeps well back but can see what is happening. INT, SUMMER BAY HOUSE, 1 HOUR LATER. Jimmy is sat at Summer Bay House with Alf, Leah, Zac, Hunter, and Jimmy's children. KAT Well we apprehended the 2 men. They are in custody. JIMMY Perhaps my visit here was not so good after all. I should be heading back tomorrow. KAT Well if you feel that is the right thing sir. JIMMY Only come to Summer Bay to see Alf my old Nam friend and am getting hounded by hoons. SHARON Dad don;t let them win. No need to cut your trip short. By the way me and Nick, well we have our own lives but have taken time off work to join you. JIMMY yeah I suppose so. KAT The 2 men did admit they know Brett Hubbard. At least it makes our job easier knowing they are one of his men. Not yet come across any other people involved. ALF Jeez we had the Braxtons and Barrett's now this flamin lot. 40 years ago the most dramatic thing to happen in Summer Bay was me mislaying my fishing rod and having to look for it. I blame the bushfire of 1995, the first big disaster to hit this once quiet backwater. To be continued..........

Thanks. Robert James Fisher, Reginald John Fisher or even Reuben Jay Fisher.

Interestingly, Don Fisher's profile names his father as R.J. Fisher. I cannot remember what episode this was revealed, or was it one of the H&A novels?

Channel 5 Transmission Discussion/Updates
Homeandawayfan. replied to 630si's topic in General Discussion
If 5 do axe Neighbours and no other channel picks it up then they will axe it altogether as the viewing figures in Oz are peanuts compared to H&A. Even Stevens though as Neighbours is more popular in the UK. The UK audience is propping the longevity of Neighbours up, otherwise H&A could have been the longest serving Oz drama series years ago. I hope ITV picks Neighbours up, so it could possibly rival Corrie, Emmerdale and EastEnders again. -
The death of Bobby in the boating accident is how I best remember Adam. He was sent to Coventry by the Summer Bay residents and shunned. But in the end even Bobby's dad Donald Fisher forgave Adam. Finlay was one who stuck up for Adam when he was being shunned.

Thanks for finding the school location. I think it is a good thing to compare screengrabs to make sure it is the same place. The exterior of the school was seen quite a bit in the early years of the show so good that is another location nailed.
-
Hurrah. I did look on Google Maps myself once and wondered if it was near Epping and just could not find the SBH location.
-
They have occasionally filmed in the Sydney CBD and the inner suburbs. The filmed in the central area in 1990, 1992, 1994 and 1999 and probably several other times. Sometimes the Sydney skyline has been seen in the background like when Michael went to find Hayden.
-
I went to Sydney in March 2007 but that was during my few year non viewing phase of H&A and Neighbours due to work schedules so I had gone off them by then and looking at the BTTB locations since, many major ones were far from any places in Sydney I went to which was the main central area. Something I regret now. I did go atop the Sydney Harbour Bridge which you may be able to see Epping. But most H&A locations are in Palm Beach, Avalon, Epping, Collaroy - all places I never went to or near. And I cannot find the real life place used as the exterior of the school in the early years. But I made up for it in 2014 when I met Nicola Quilter who played Donna in H&A for 8 months, and Jason Donovan, whose father was in H&A for 2 months playing Al Simpson, Sophie's dad and Bobby's adoptive dad.

BTTB will have acne next and have severe mood swings. In January 2022 we can buy the site its first pint.

Happy Birthday BTTB for Saturday, and it is good that the site's birthday is so close to that of the show itself. I remember in early 2004 I first came across BackToTheBay which had month by month summaries I think and a multi coloured design. I remember looking at summaries for Dec 1993 storylines and one was "Fisher finally forgives Adam". Yet it took me almost 9 years to join as I became a member in November 2012.

continued....... EXT, BEACH, SUMMER BAY, MORNING. Jimmy is walking along the beach and sees Kat Chapman. KAT Sir, that man you got into an altercation with last night outside the diner, well he is detained in custody on some other charges. CCTV saw him in Yabbie Creek trying to rob a CD shop. JIMMY Oh right, thanks. KAT So you from round here then? JIMMY No, I am an old Nam friend of Alf Stewart. I am staying at the caravan park. I have a son who is an adult and a divorced daughter. They are exploring Summer Bay today. KAT Oh right, well I shall let you get on then sir. Jimmy is walking along and is being watched by the other person Brett Hubbard was with when they tried to damage the diner last night. He makes a call on his mobile. BRETT'S MATE Hi Iggy, yeah the old man is walking along the beach near the surf club. That female copper is nearby so wait until she is gone, then follow him. He made a citizens arrest and assaulted Brett then got Brett arrested last night, and also Brett was then identified as the man robbing the shop in Yabbie Creek. He could go down. So make sure you beat the old man up bad, or you will not get the $100. Jimmy is walking along the beach and is now being followed by 2 tattooed thugs. Kat walks towards the surf club. The 2 men start chasing Jimmy. Brett's mate is stood in the dunes smiling but Kat sees the commotion. The 2 men pounce on Jimmy but Kat intervenes, and the 2 thugs run off. BRETT'S MATE No!!!!!!!!! Damn. Damn, Damn!!! KAT You alright Sir? JIMMY Yeah, they barely touched me. Lucky you saw it. KAT probably some of Hubbard's men. I shall get backup and see if we can pull them in. To be continued........

Finlay Roberts - Tina Thomsen
Homeandawayfan. replied to Skylover's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
I vividly remember a scene where Sally and Finlay clashed and Sally gave Finlay what for. "You think you own this house don't you Finlay". And when Finlay stood up for Adam Cameron when Bobby died in the boating crash. -
Jack Wilson - Daniel Amalm
Homeandawayfan. replied to Skylover's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Jack was one of my fave characters back in the day. His two timing with Selina and being given a shiner by her and Alf laughing at it. Also pretending to have a broken arm. -
Floss McPhee - Sheila Kennelly
Homeandawayfan. replied to j.laur5's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Floss was the Helen Daniels of Summer Bay. -
Donald Fisher - Norman Coburn
Homeandawayfan. replied to Light of the Bay's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
I did read in a book once about 20 years ago, also it says on several websites but it has not been verified. Norman did do several UK shows in the 1960s such as Z Cars and Dixon Of Dock Green. He was a jobbing actor who played minor roles and then decades later he got his big break. He is similar to Steve McFadden aka Phil in EE, who played minor roles in TV shows before he got his big break. -
Donald Fisher - Norman Coburn
Homeandawayfan. replied to Light of the Bay's topic in Character/Actor Discussion
Thanks. If I wrote a book about Home And Away I would pride myself on the accuracy of the book and research into the show. Norman Coburn did once play a labourer in Coronation Street once but I have not yet seen this episode. It was sometime in the 1960s and many 1960s eps have not been repeated since their original broadcast. -
Yes and....

The current show deffo does tie in (continuity wise) with pre 2005 H&A as it still focuses on Summer Bay, the Stewarts, Maz and Irene (all hark back to the 190s/1990s) etc but the format has changed. The Early years finish in 1993-1995, then new have a new dawn 1994-2000, then a new era 200-2005 while still feeling like H&A. So it could be said that 2005 was the year the show hit stormy waters and has not returned?
-
I agree that 2004 was the last year where the show really felt like H&A. But the big change did not begin until 2010/2011. Watching 2007 episodes, it still had a lot of H&A elements to it. Since 2011 it has gone down a totally different route focusing on endless crimes, stalkers, drugs, guns and sex. Lost all of its originality. And will they ever let the Braxton era die? They are so desperate to cling on to that era. Neighbours is more of a continuation of H&A than H&A itself.

A reprieve in my fanfic as Kat is back in the police force. INT, SUMMER BAY HOUSE, NIGHT TIME. Alf, Leah, Zak and Jimmy's children are sat around the table having a laugh and joke. JIMMY Come on Alf, you know I never stole one of your trousers in the camp in Vietnam. ALF Well I am sure you did mate. JIMMY Stone the crows we have been here for hours It is 10pm. Better get off to Yabbie Creek. ALF I won't hear anything of it. There is plenty of room here at Summer Bay House. There is a spare room. NICK Good, we can go and explore Summer Bay tomorrow. I can eye up that female police office you spoke to Leah. LEAH Good luck with that. JIMMY Nick behave yourself. See what I have to put up with Alf (Laughs). If I am staying, I can sleep on the sofa. ALF You OK with that Jimmy? Yeah well for Nick and Sharon, the spare room is actually downstairs, go into the hallway and there is a door to the left and it is there. Don't worry, there are 2 single beds in it. That room is very rarely used. continued........
