is a much better idea.As a couple, I think Nicole and Romeo would be all right but nothing special and I don't think it would add anything to either character. well, except from that Roman thaught Aden to try to concentrate of school and his future even if he were hurting. He supported him during the whole breakdown/trial thing. He would never had finished school if Roman hadn't looked after him. He gave him a lot of advice all the time. Miles have never been doing that to neither Nicole or Romeo not at the same level... Nicole and Aden were to hormonal teens so sexual tensions were natural, in the beginning, but they actually first came over that (ep. 4718) and they should never have returned to that thing. But Romeo only 17 last year, he had dropped out of school, maybe year 12 since he is repeating that year now... how old are Australians when they normally finish high-school. I'm getting very confused sometimes when it comes to age and school system. And the writers are changing the characters age all the time. Ruby has been 16 for more than a year now. And is she in year 12?? it looks like that, she is in the same class as Romeo and Nicole. But two years ago when she first came to Summer Bay high she was in year 9.. (just seen those eps on Norwegian tv). Aden was at the same age as Mathilda/Cassie/Belle but in a little glip in 2008 he was 17 as Nicole, then he was at the same age as belle again and she was 20 when she had that OD. Nicole on the other hand was 17 for 18 months... So Romeo could easily be 19... (and he looks older, the actor is 25!!) But it looks

honestly..well... Things like this happen in real life a lot, especially when you are young. . And in the beginning she hurted him a lot, when she was ashamed of him, but when they learned to know each other better. And she wasn't exactly a very well behaved girl herself. She had always her eyes on bad-boys, Aden wasn't any worse than she was. There have been far more random pairings in H&A... And it would have been unrealistic if it had been Mathilda for instance, because she was much more of a good school girl. (Mathilda and Ric were far more unrealistic in my eyes. The lazy bad boy who didn't want to do anything with his life and Mathilda the very clever girl who wanted to study) Aden and Belle were also flirting for months before they really started dating and he ended up in her bed. I think that the build up and the first part of their relationship was really well done! It just started messy when they added Angelo into the mix. The build up to their relationship is one of the most realistic teen/young twenty relationship they have had on this show. The problem with this relationship is that the writers thought that people loved drama and it became overkill, even more than with Jack and Martha. It was unessecary to throw all the disasters at the same characters/couple: difficulties to deal with a rough childhood/abuse, breakdown, Belles involvement in the developement site/and the attack of her, her pill addiction, the storyline about the wedding ring, cancer and death. They were never given the chance to be happy (which was very common for that time period, late 2008 to mid 2009, all the characters were more or less victims of this) and that is a shame! And it became extremely tiring... Balance between high emotional drama and more happier storylines is H&A biggest problem.

I'm the same.Although the show seems reluctant to do platonic male/female relationships, I really hope they leave them the way they are instead of putting them together. It would probably work but I prefer them as friends/quasi-siblings. hm.. I've never seen those two as a brother/sister thing, because Nicole or Romeo don't seem to be fostered by Miles/Alf/Marilyn. They just seem to be randoms who are living in the Summer Bay house. It was very different with Nicole when she was living with Roman and Aden. Roman was trying to raise Nicole and give her some values in life that her mother hadn't given to her. And Roman was trying to get Aden on his feet, and learn him something about life and try to keep him on the right side of the law. That made them more sister/brother and had a good friendship - that was the friendship which shouldn't have been destroyed! And Adens character was a different and a more complex one than nicole (and the actors were too different!) Romeo and Nicole are the same type characters, a little bit deep, but still a bit shallow. I think that Romeo should have been made a bit older... But old is he actually supposed to be?? He lost dropped out of school and have now returned, but how many years has he lost... So he and Nicole could be about the same age. I thought long time before Nicole got together with Aden, that nicole should bee coupled up with Romeo, when he first came to the bay and started flirting with Martha, I thought oh here is a boy for Nicole! And I certainly don't think Romeo is too good for her... Nicole isn't that bad, she is just missing some stability in her life. That thing with Sid was Sids fault too, he should have gone to Miles - the girl needed help at that time.

They are not quite liked on this forum, but I do think they have a lot of fans especially in Aus. Both were nominated for most popular actor/actress at the Logies and Esther was even nominated for gold. This shows that a lot of people like them, and thats the reason why they are promoted as the golden couple. But it is really weird to me, I don't like those two either - not even as single characters...

Well, Larry could have died of an illness, and Aden and Justin could have talked about him, and Aden could have admitted that he still cared about his father, but hadn't been in contact with him because he was afraid that he could start to hate him again or go down on a self-distructive path again, it was better for him to just look forward and don't look back - the only option to survive and have a good life. This happens a lot in real life. I think the storyline was rushed after the death of Larry mystery was resolved. It would have been better not to drag that mystery and concentrate on the aftermath. As you said RR1 we never saw a funeral or heard them talking about their father after they got off the hook. And that made the storyline even more cold and horrible. But Justin did mention Summerbay as the town were Aden buried his own father, to Nicole. And he was probably not reffering to the incident in the woods... I would have liked a big conversation about their father and their childhood before they left, and much more than you weren't there for me, and dad was just a scum, I thought that I killed him - my own father... And for the character of Justin, I liked him especially in the beginning but he was very inconsistently written just as the whole storyline. He was the one who first called his father scum, when Aden said he deserved a chance. And suddenly it was the opposite. Aden did need some structure and dicipline in his life... So in many ways joining the army did make sense to me.. Just didn't like the way it was done. Didn't like that Aden and Nicoles friendship was thrown away like that. And if it was real, Aden would have found out about Justins meddling and conversations with Nicole, and situation would have been worse than it was in the first place. But when they first did this horrible storyline (bury their own father was just disgusting - don't know other english word to describe it), I liked your idea RR1, that justin could have been thrown out of the army and Aden had to make up for what he had done.... But Aden is not the only character who has done a lot of wrong things and not getting punished for them... (angelo, Tony, Charlie, Jack etc...) and I wish that the writers and producers didn't mess with morality like this... (Ups, bad English - really late )
-
Jen you are right, it is not right to let aden and Justin go free from the crimes they have done (bury their own father and so on..). But it was not right to do this storyline at all either! Because just no matter what happens it is so wrong. It will be wrong to let Aden go to jail because of his history - all the progress he did. Yes he might not have forgiven his father, who actually experienced exactly the same abuse as a kid, but there was more to this situation than the abuse, it was the neglect, the manipulation and all (eps 4665-4698)... And in real life a lot of people would not have been able to have a relationship with a relative when they have a history like that... No matter how they actually deep down inside do love them... sometimes the only way to move forward, is to forget about the past and not looking back. But I think that in this case it would have been better to focus on the last bit that was missing, and that was Aden to talk properly to his father and also to do something out of his life. And bringing in justin could have been a good way to bring up his father again. And even if the actor was busy with other things, and was just able to do a few scenes they could have let him die of liver falure (because of his drinking).. and then just have a little talk to Aden or just Aden regretting that he didn't got to talk to his father before he died. But this storyline like they have done it, is just cold. A lot of scenes of two brothers carrying around with their fathers dead body - it is so terrible wrong!!!! What about Larry, he was never painted as a totally mean person in the first place, but as someone who couldn't even help himself! And it totally destroyes adens whole time/storyline on the show. And if the brothers go free, as I think they will it is totally morally wrong. And if they had thrown aden to jail it would have been wrong to, because it would have been just an another case of proving that people with a bad past can't change (as HAA actually has said a lot of times, far too many!!!) And I also think it is strange that this storyline don't get some negative comments/critics in Australia. The lesbian storyline which was in my opinion, not as controversial as this, caused a lot of fuss. But there are a lot of cultural differencies here I think... It would have caused a lot of discussions in my country if it was airing at 7 p.m. and was a norwegian production...But in two years time when this airs here, I don't think it will cause any problems because HAA is just a tv series which is an early afternoon filler, and doesn't rate very high (it just have a small fanbase here).

sunny and mild at daytime. Cold in the night. It is really spring!!!!

I do agree with you. And I have always thought that Miles should have left with Sally. She met her brother she hadn't seen for 20 years and then she got angry with the head principal and decided to leave... I think that was really strange... I don't think Miles is funny either, he has always irritated me.. And this Rabbit storyline... very bisarre. I like Leah's friendship with both Charlie and Rachel. And I think that she will be good with Elijah (not as good as her and Roman would have been, but...)...

. But I think that I probably did not explain myself that well, I mentioned that I thought his departure was bad and you thought that I wanted him to have a big farewell party, but I just wanted his leaving storyline to be explained and fleshed out more, just like you have said here. Sorry if I misunderstood you, I thought you were saying he should have either had a bigger farewell scene or more farewell scenes with other people, whereas I thought that aspect of it was handled okay. It was an odd episode, it felt like most of the right ingredients were there but the script badly needed another draft and was rushed into production too soon. They needed to come up with a better reason for him deciding to become a missionary and any reason for him to have to leave that afternoon. It just felt a bit abrupt. yepp. It felt like they wanted to get rid of him as quick as possible!
-
Yepp, agree. I tried to say something like this under the spoiler tread . But I think that I probably did not explain myself that well, I mentioned that I thought his departure was bad and you thought that I wanted him to have a big farewell party, but I just wanted his leaving storyline to be explained and fleshed out more, just like you have said here.

very cold again. -21 degrees celsius outside now. We haven't had plus degrees since late november, we normally have milder periods during the winter with temperature on the plus side.
-
oh, I'm sorry - didn't know that this meant that... I thought it had an another meaning...

Aden never lied to get cassie in to trouble - it was Simon Jeffries, Adens cousin if you are thinking about the car accident.. And he was also pressured by his brother to lie to the police about Rics attack, and then he after a while told Cassie the truth. Well, a lot of the characters have done a lot of wrong things, also aden. But he is far away from the worst, his actions are in the open and they are never "hidden" by the writers. We do have a dirty cop in the bay - who is going to be made a hero I think. Tony and Charlie also did terrible things because of what they had been through but they never got punished for what they did... But I think I have to leave this discussion here, because we are just going to repeat ouselves to death I think I just have to accept that you dont agree with me
-
well, how boring would the world have been if everybody did agree with each other...... !!!!! The act with Tam (which aired on Norwegian television just a couple of months ago, so I remember it well!) was just an act to hide his problems..He wanted to show the world that he was a girls man, and let his friend film him and Tam. Tam was drunk at Aden wasn't, he was in control and he didn't let it go to far, they were just kissing and fooling around, but people around was supposed to think that it was more than that. Aden was just all act at those times. And I don't think it's strange that he treat Liam this way, he saw Liam sell drugs to kids! I do believe in second chances and I have actually thought that some on this board don't believe in that when it comes to Aden and then suddenly want Liam to get a second chance. But the difference between those two is that Liam have more "hidden" behaviour. He is supposed to start a new life, but do not contact his ex-wife and son. He is an adult - much older than Aden. And the episode with Romeo was just disgusting! what kind of message do the writers send! When you are in a situation like that it is your duty to call an ambulance! But no, they just justified that with that Liam is an earlier addict and was afraid to get caught with the drugs, and they didn't really go into this at all! I think it looks that Liam isn't trying very hard to change, but I do hope he will though. Aden is more about barking and getting angry and saying bad things, but Liams actions are a lot worse. who did cheat on Nicole instead of joining her at the formal??? But I do think that the writers didn't do the right thing to go down this road, they started to write Aden as obsessive with nicole just a few weeks after Belles death, that dragged him down. I don't think that it is Nicole alone, but those two together doesn't seem right for me. But I did like Nic until Roman left. And there are characters who are far more overrated than Aden and who have had far more storylines too like Charlie. And I also think it was wrong to totally downplay Aden after belles death, he hardly was in it for a couple of months. He just had a few scenes were he was snapping at people. But when Morag moved in with him we didn't see any scenes with those two together which was a shame because he slowly came around and started to act more friendly and moved on. But that was just like how 09 season was, a lot of interactions between the characters were off-screen, and we had just all those over-the-top and speculative storylines. A lot of Tony and Rachel making up scenes happened off-screen too. Yes, he was terrible to Geoff a couple of years ago (in current ep. on Norwegian tv), but Geoff have done a lot of things which have been covered and not been discussed in the show.. He wanted Aden to be blamed for killing all the sheep he killed. Just awful.. and he wasn't punished for it, nobody told him that it was wrong.. He believed that Annie was abused by aden, but when she revealed that she had lied, he didn't appologise. And Geoff was not kind to Aden after Belles death. And he said to Aden that he wasn't thinking about anybody else than himself, but what??? Who was running from home and dropped out of school?? Nobody told him how wrong that was. Geoff has always been painted as the saint no matter what he has done. Sad.n But I would have liked if Aden had appologised for his earlier behaviour towards Geoff and Annie, that would have been good. And they actually are supposed to be friends now. I want the characters to regret their wrong actions more, both aden and Liam. But I do think that all of those characters are interesting in their own way, thats the reason why I am discussing them. I would say that it isn't many tv shows which have so many different characters, not soaps... And maybe thats why I am watching now and then. And I do think that the characters from the last 2-3 years are intersting, depite all the stalker storylines, some of the characters have really been very good. well well... But how we see things differently is just funny, I think And I am almost ashamed of myself, a person of my age shouldn't been commenting a character of a television show all the time How tragic so this old grumpy one, from the corner of the world is going to bed now, something I should have done long time ago.
-
I feel that sometimes you are watching an another show RR1. But its funny how different we can view just a simple soap I have to agree with Diner Landlord. I think that Aden&Belle was not good at all, but Aden and Nicole are just horrible. And (in danger to repeat myself) I think that he is just an another person when he is with Nicole. I wish that the writers could have let him be single until he leaves. Just because I think it would have been good if they were focusing on his character again, and not with this on-and-off nonsense with Nicole (or somebody else). I actually think that Nicole should have left with Roman. He didn't get the departure he deserved (and his caracter had a lot of potential but the writers wouldn't see it...) After Romans departure Nicole has been totally destroyed as a character and I don't understand how they can keep her in the show... She could have left to live some place closer to the prison so she could visit him more!
-
I do agree with most of your last post RR1, especially the way the writers handled the storyline about the aftermath of Adens breakdown. But I still feel they could have made him more mature by now, and I don't mean marriages and kids. I have always though that his proposal to Belle and the wedding was a bit out of character for Aden. He was afraid of loosing her again after what happened with the drugs, her and Liam but marriage was a bit far to stretched. And I don't like that the writers very often seem that marriage is a good storyline when it comes to the young couples. Maybe some young girls dream about the white dress and all that stuff, but I think that all the teen marriages through the years on this show is sending a wrong message. And its not realistic either. Most young girls and boys have other thoughts in mind than marriage and its very normal to have focus on education and future work opportunities and also relationship - but not marriage yet. Belle and especially Aden were far to immature for marriage. Well, Belles wish was a result of her illness because she knew she was going to die. But for Aden... And all the stuff about the ring and the loan shark show he was very immature. And he still is using the same wrong tatics (getting angry, building up defence etc.) when he is trying to solve his problems. And it is here I think the writers could have made him more grown up. He should have learned more to handle difficult issues by now, and also start to forgive his father maybe. And belles death should have made him more mature too, but I don't think it has. he seem more childish than ever. His actions towards Nicole, and when he stole Poppys car without thinking about the consequenses was a evidence of how immature he still is. He is now more acting like a 14 year old, rather than a 20 year old (it was said in an ep. in august that belle was 20, and Aden is at the same age).
-
Much milder, and it has started snowing a little. -3 degrees.
-
well, i certainly disagree. Cassies abuse was forgotten just in a minute, and then she was reformed to a sleep-around. Sometimes that is a consequense from abuse too, but Cassie went from getting scared for intime contact to a "bed-jumper" in a very short time. Yes, aden has been reformed too, but not so fast, and he has slept with other people under different circumstances which make it more believable. It was never even said much about Cassie's abuse, just that her uncle had done something to her. The whole storyline was very diffuse. She was afraid of having sex with Ric, then told Sally about it, had a trial about so she could stay with Sally and Flynn and didn't have to live with her uncle when her grandmother died. Then after the trial it was mentioned once that she was going to get some councelling. And then it was forgotten. Totally forgotten. The storyline went on for a week or so. It felt like the writers was afraid that the subject was too controversal. Sometimes you just get small scars from abuse, but sometimes the scars go deeper. And it is a question of the circumstances too, and for how long the abuse is going on. And in Adens case it was about so much more than the abuse, but the writers chose to point out that it was the abuse which was the reason for Adens behaviour. But there was a lot more to this storyline, neglect, his brothers who ran away from home and went to jail, his fathers alcoholism etc... I have friends who work in the child/youth psyciatric care and Adens reaction to his past (and present) is very realistic. I do agree that there has been some "blips/miss" here and there, but nothing really serious... The worst was probably the aftermath of Adens breakdown, which was done too fast, and the relationship with belle and belle herself got all the attention. And it would have been better if he didn't get a good behaviour bond, but just a community service.. I do agree that he broke this a few times, but this is HAA and I find it much more disturbing that murders dont get punished (Angelo).. than Adens small actions, he hasn't seriuously hurt people after his trial. He has just threatened them a few times, the worst was when he attacked angelo at the police station and when he got into a fight with the drug dealer. But nobody got hurt, not even a black eye (exept Liam, and what Liam did to aden was much worse, he was on a good behaviour bond too!!!) And we should have seen more of the community service, that would have made the story more realistic. And he should have got more councelling after the trial... Do the writers have something against coucelling? because those characters who deal with a terrible trauma and do not get professional help are those who recover from their trauma/problems.. Look at Kane, he really did want to change, he did a lot of councelling with Flynn and look at what happened to Kane... What I don't like is that they have difficulties with making Aden more adult and grown up. He has been in the show for a couple of years now and we should have seen more progress in his character. And I also feel like his actons, especially after Belles death should have been more explored and tied up to his past - his reaction to his fathers behaviour etc.. I feel that Romans departure from the show left an empty space in some of the others storyline (esp. Adens) which they havent been able to fill in. Roman could have told him that he was doing the excactly the same his father did (the drinking) etc... But I think that this happens a lot, when the characters stay in the show for a couple of years or more, we just se more of the same behaviour and it feels like the writers have a problem of making the characters older and wiser. I have to say that I think that other TV-shows do this much better than HAA, and a lot of the characters are staying for a longer time too. Sometimes I think they change the wrong characters, look what happened to geoff and annie when they tried to make them more adult and exciting.... But this is a soap, and it is not meant to be a serious drama, but when they are doing serious and sensitive issues it is very important that they are doing it right.. I do believe that they tried to do it right with aden, at least to a certain point. But they do forget very often that all the storylines the characters have, are going to affect how the viewers see them. It happens far to many times that they forget about what have happened to the characters in the past and do storylines which conflict with earlier storylines. But they are also afraid to loose viewers if they are focusing too much on one single problem, but consitency is very important. But I guess that it isn't always easy to be a writer on this show, different people want different storylines.

Getting milder. -18 degrees C, now. It feels almost mild after that cold we have had. And it is dry.. very dry.. the snow is like sand and the air is dry too, and hard to breathe in. I think it had felt colder if it had been more wind, and not so dry (Like it was in christmas). But my car is hurting after all this cold. I wonder if it will start tomorrow.
-
cold again... brrrrrrrrrrrr... -28 degrees celsius. My car almost didn't start, when I was going to drive home from work.
-
But did Aden and Nicole just have to be with each other just because they lived together??? Her father took Aden under his wings because Adens family life wasn't excactly great. We have had a lot of these kind of "brother/sister"-like relationships through the years (especially in the last years with Ric-Cassie, Ric-Mathilda etc) and it was refreshing that they did something else with Aden and Belle. It was actually more realistic to me. I really dislike what they have done to Aden and Nicole, because a friendship is actually very important in everybodys life, but the writers seem to undermine that all the time! They should have made their friendship even stronger, without pairing them. And I really agree with Diner Landlord in his post. And this is going to be my last comment on the topic for a while, because I am going to be repetative now. Foxy's post reminded me about that..
-
for me, Nicole and Aden are a random pairing, just because they think there is no time to introduce a new person for Aden and they happens to know each other. And the writers seem to think that the characters have no right to be in the show if they can't couple them with anybody Friendship doesn't count on HAA. (just look at what happened to Roman, and when they tried to couple Geoff with Claudia without exploring the character first) I think that they have changed their history when they put these two together. All the talk that they did not suit each other as a couple did not count anymore. And, realtionships are about much more than having fun and flirting and teasing each other all the time! And sometimes Aden and belle really try to deal with the horrible things that were happening to them. But I think that the writers gave them too much trouble. And I think it was just because people liked Adens abuse storyline and then they gave them all the troubles they could think of, because they thought that people wanted that (and that is just how the last seasons have been --- too much of dramas, crimes) But with Nicole Aden suddenly have changed, he is not the deep character he once was. And I think it is better to have a couple fighting about their problems rather than ignore them (like Tony and Rachel). I liked Belle and Aden in the beginning. And it was not a random pairing because they were at the same age, and had been in the same class at school for years. And it's very common, especially in the teens, that you "deslike" a person, but the passion isn't far away... (huh.. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say). While I didn't like Adelle just because Belle got too many problems/storylines in her last 10 months in the show (all she did was hiding from everyone and lying), Aden and Belle had more depth and understanding than Nicole and Aden has. When Aden first met Nicole he just fancied her because she was a typical "hot" girl like boys normally look at. When he got with Belle, he learned to know her and started to love her for who she was. And that is what a relationship is about. And Nicole and Aden has had a lot of arguments too. I would really like a single person on the show! And I would also like that a character could be single for a while after a divorce or a relationship break. It feels so repetative when a character is in a lot of relationships and life is about more than that! Because when two characters in HAA are together they always focus on that, breakups, fights, making ups. Single characters (esp. the guys) do have the best storylines, because then they can focus on the storyline and not the girls reaction all the time.
-
COLDDDD.....When is this going to stop??.. brrrr.... -25 degrees celsius. Happy and thankful for that I have a roof over my head!!!
-
It is a reason why they didn't put Nicole and Aden together earlier on. Their personalities and storylines were colliding. Aden with his history of abuse (and scared of intimacy) and Nicole who had learned that sex was the only way to get some comfort and confirmation of who she was (and that was not so strange if you see the epiosodes when her mother was in it..). For me they still don't work together, they are far too different. Aden needs somebody with more depth and somebody who is more secure. And in length Aden is far too boring for Nicole, she needs more excitement in her life. And she is still very "sexual" but also vulnerable, and he is still very insecure and emotional unstable.
-
very cold, again. It's long time ago since the last time we had such as cold for that long. -19 degrees outside. And still very little snow, just about 30 cm.
