My list Alf and Ailsa-Back bone of the show for first 12 years and no doubt if Judy Nunn hadn’t decided to leave, they would continue on as backbone of show. Neville and Floss- I know this might seemed an odd choice as they left very early on and they were rather one dimensional, but you still couldn’t have one without the other and the actors did pair well with each other. Tom and Pippa-First Parents on show that bought us Summer Bay. Michael and Pippa-Despite preferring Tom and Pippa I still do feel that Pippa and Michael really did bring strong realism being together as they were together in real life . Matt and Evie-Despite getting together just before they left after being friends for years but build up to their characters maturing and getting together was great development and good ending for characters

Just curious is Summer Bay considered in Greater Sydney in H&A verse?.

Leah and Zac's marriage seemed doomed from the start. I think if Charlie wasn’t leaving then there wouldn’t be writing with Leah pushing Zac away and therefore no affair and staying together and I think Zac would have stayed Hunter's father. I think it would have been better if they did not marry and just be partners and waited til Leah married Justin as by time Leah married Justin they were together for five and that was longest relationship she had by then. Back on topic both Jasmine exit ruined their characters with breaking Cash heart in such cruel way and I didn’t like Jasmine character afterwards and not having proper goodbye scene with anybody.

I just wonder why they didn’t just write out both Joel and Natalie in 2000 before the Sutherlands arrived and without Natalie's affair. Gypsy could simply just move in with Vinnie. In some ways I think it would have been a more ideal time for Sally to leave in 2000 with getting married and moving away being her exit storyline. I didn’t buy them turning Sally into a foster mum and trying to turn her into new Pippa in 2004-2008. She just seemed too young when she was being a foster mum to Ric and Cassie as she seemed more like big sister figure then mother figure.

Kyle and Colby .

Doris Peters I think she would be. Summer Bay version off Mrs Mangel if she stayed and after Richmond Hill got cancelled it’s wonder why Gwen Plumb didn’t return then . I know she only one scene in the pilot but she was meant to be a regular but Gwen Plumb decided to do Richmond Hill instead but got cancelled after a year. When Gwen Plumb returned in 1995 as a new character it’s a shame they didn’t just used Doris Peters again. Doris Peters was mentioned as long as 1995 as I remember a scene when Irene was on phone to her and though she said just Doris and could be other Doris but I do believe it was actually Doris Peters given it was only seven since pilot.

Matt and Ellie-I know they were siblings but Ellie was guest and was very refreshing to see realistic storyline of older sibling taking care of his younger sibling without any huge drama and Ellie being just guest was good because while she was still around you only sure her when she was needed and was nice for once to see happy end with siblings and young family foaming together.

Wouldn’t minded seeing Loris Crawford stay longer as couldn’t help but wonder if there was more then meets eyes with her character and maybe find out what cause her become that way she was and maybe she more complex side to her. I would paid money to watch Morag bring Loris down and it’s shame we didn’t get see them in screen but guest Morag wasn’t going make random return in 1991 for no reason.

After they got married they basically were just acting like younger parents to younger Forster kids and think would be better for them to had exit after getting married and leaving town together. By that point Carly really had run her course by then . Thoughts should Ben and Carly be written out after they got married?.

But I do think Pippa had actually run her course by time she left . So i wasn’t too sorry she left when she did as had she stayed her storylines would had just recycled and given Debra recently said in her latest interview she wasn’t going to stay long term I think Debra felt same that Pippa character went as far as she could without same old storylines happening. In lot respects I do think Irene and Ailsa had more potential than Pippa with storylines. I for one could not imagine Pippa in Irene storylines and just like couldn’t imagine Irene in Pippa storylines .

Pippa- Her character had no proper goodbyes to anyone and she did not even have proper farewell scene with Sally her longest foster child and no mention of past foster children or no mention of ether husband I don’t and episode wasn’t even centre focus.

I know at times you need characters purely for plot driven reasons . But there are times especially in recent years where I think some seemed unnecessary characters that were either drawn out and stayed longer than what was required of them or they were given a big build up for it turn into nothing more than a plot device. Here's my list. Martha Stewart-Big build up to her coming back to life after believing she was dead and her being eventually reunited with Alf. Then the storyline with her son. Now she has been off the show for nearly four years and she is only ever mentioned for when Alf or Roo needs to leave town or when Ray or Georgia needs time off. Amber Simmons -Her character first comes to the Bay just to be John's nurse after his stroke and then suddenly it turns out she is another, endless lost soul from Mangrove River. Then we find out she is a never mentioned before friend of Willow and ex girl friend of Dean and so happens to be a sister of Jai's friend who died in car crash with Colby and Dean. Then just to drag out her stay even longer by making her have son called Jai and Dean being dad and then basically for next few next months she is basically deciding whether she should have Dean in her son life or not. When she returns few months later she’s basically just being Dean rebound girl until she realises that Dean doesn’t really love her and leaves basically month after her return and it just felt like build up to bring her and Dean together was for nothing and outside off making Dean dad to son he never knew about the character was pointless character to keep around other then just coming in to be John nurse after his stroke and was it even necessary for Dean to be dad to son he never knew about as we barely even sure Jai after he left in 2021 with Amber and Jai was barley even mentioned all that much and most of all was it really necessary for her to be Jai sister as just felt like writers just wanted to have other reason to create drama between her and Colby and Dean. Taylor Rosetta -Her character was basically just around for other reason to create more reason for Colby to become more reckless in his battle with Angelo and I really think had Taylor never be created as character then Colby wouldn’t off become as reckless as he did and when storyline was finished it felt very forced that Taylor all sudden felt back in love Angelo and patched things up to leave together as it’s shame because I think Taylor could had potential to stuck around in bay . Gemma Parata - I really like her character and like waste potential for her just to sick around for few moths and she was meant to only go for while and she never return and felt pointless in end to build up her character just for her not to be there for very long. Mia and Chloe-Wasn’t sure to include them or not but did feel both characters didn’t really fit in and not bought much to show other then being somehow being extended family to Paratas family . Xander Delaney -His character started out with promise but he gave up his career to work at salt his character become such background figure and he left show with barely anyone notching he was gone. Now whats you thoughts on characters you thought that seemed pointless or did not feel as necessary as they made out they were ?.

Well she is about most straight cop in long time so not surprised her record win her over. It’s gout they kept Rose pretty straight for all her run and kept respecting they going turn Rose into breaking rules but other then searching for her dad she never break rules to much of extreme as ever other cop on this show at least since Jack Holden would be booted off forced.
