  12. As wikipedia so easily explains, a verb is a part of speech that usually denotes action --> go, talk etc.
  13. There are basically 3 kinds of sentences. Simple, compound and complex. Simple sentences consists of "one subject and one verb". I went to school. Went - verb I - subject school - (direct object) There can be as many objects as you wish in simple sentences, but only one verb and one subject. Compound sentences are composed of at least two independent clauses (clauses which makes sense on their own)joined by a coordinating conjunction, usually "and", "or", "but" (with or without a comma), a correlative conjunction (with or without a comma), or a semicolon with no conjunction. I went to school, but the school was closed. I - subject went - verb school - (direct) object but is the conjunction school - (direct) object was - verb closed - adjective A complex sentence is a sentencewith an independent clause and at least one dependent clause, a clause that does not make sense on its own, (subordinating clause) is referred to as a complex sentence. The dependent clause is often introduced by a subordinate conjunction such as "which", "while" or "because". I went to school, which is far from my house I - subject went - verb school - (direct) object which is the subordinate conjunction is - verb etc.
