Ooh, really intrigued. Is there some connection with what happened to Rachel and Hugh?Is there a reason for the way Martha's behaving? And who exactly is that? Can't wait to find out. -

Yes, also worried that Rachel was dead here.Really sad about the baby. Why did Martha collapse?Looking forward to more. -
I liked that, I can really imagine that that's how they'll all be in the future.Loved the banter between the three of them.

Aden's first stint on the show was between episodes 4019 and 4047.

Great start!Really interested, this is different from most of the other fics on here. -
Awww that was really lovely.Liked how Edward and Elsie helped Aden out and glad they seem to be becoming a family at last.

If Aden and Nicole did get together, and I think they are better suited to each other than certain other people, I'd want it done properly.I'd have no problem with them suddenly deciding they want to be together so long as they were upfront about it and didn't go sneaking around behind Belle and/or Geoff's backs. And I certainly wouldn't want it to be a five minute relationship before they go running back to their "proper" partners.

Awww, that was a really great update.Like how Aden's finding it so hard and hope he and Belle can sort things out.

Agreeing to disagree already. And I do see your point. Oh my goodness, Ric and Matilda were JUST as boring, if not worse but thats another thread... I LOVED Ric and Matilda and I think I'd love Aden and Nicole as a couple as well, I always like him more in his scenes with her than when he's angsting over Belle. And I just want to say I agree ENTIRELY with Macylightfoot's post above.Well said.

Oh dear.I hoped my post would go down a bit better than that.I'm just going to say two things, Jody, and I hope I don't cause any offence: *Maybe my memory's playing tricks here but I'll swear that after Nicole turned down his offer of a fumble, Aden called her a tease and told her to go away, which she still refused to do. *Nicole was kidnapped by a madman, left tied up underwater, nearly drowned, stranded on a desert island not knowing if her father was dead or alive and came quite close to drowning on the fluid left in her lungs.Aden locked his father in a shed, took the doctor who was trying to help him hostage, took his girlfriend hostage and tried to give his father a lethal injection because he hadn't died quickly enough.(A situation he could have walked away from at any time.)Okay, Nicole got to have sex but I know whose shoes I'd rather have been in.I found it odd that when Belle rang Aden to tell him Geoff and Nicole had been found, the only comment we heard was "Annie'll be pleased" and I like to think it was his lack of concern for Nicole and/or Roman that tipped her off that something was wrong.

No, I did actually mean that scene.Maybe it's a little double standards, maybe not.I think the difference is that Aden offered to look after Melody, effectively taking responsibility for her, and then didn't see it through.Whereas Nicole tried a lot harder to help Aden(who showed so little concern for Melody he might as well have been a taxi driver), took a lot more from him and wasn't really responsible for him since he was technically an adult. She should probably have gone to Roman and got him to have a go if she couldn't handle it herself but nobody's perfect.Just my view.

I've tried to defend Nicole on this one before and made a pig's ear of it but I'll have a go again. When Nicole found Aden drunk when his father was in hospital, she tried to help him.She could have done a better job of it, she could have done worse. He kept telling her to leave him alone, she tried to get him to come home, which seems like a much better solution that turning up drunk in the bedroom of the girl he fancies. She admitted she liked him(possibly the first time she'd done that to anyone?)and he responded by basically jumping her.She pushed him off and probably could have used a more diplomatic way of putting it than "drunk and disgusting".I actually think that showed she'd matured a bit because a few weeks earlier, when she was trying to seduce him on the living room floor, I think she'd probably have been happy having a drunken fumble with him.But she'd learnt a bit of self-respect by then.He then started abusing her again, at which point she had enough and stormed off.I think a lot of other people would have reacted the same way in that situation.Belle's way of handling it, letting him stay in her room, was possibly not the best idea:It might have been more sensible to ring Roman and let him know where he was or point him in the direction of the couch. And she didn't even have to put up with him being abusive. The final slap in the face for Nicole was the following morning when she realised she'd put herself on the line and Aden didn't even remember any of it. If they'd got together back then, could she have handled his problems?I think their relationship would have been more of a mutual one, instead of Belle supporting him the whole time(then).Although her problems don't really compare to his, they were similar characters(she'd had a somewhat neglectful parent, been the recipient of unwanted advances from her stepfather and as a result was a bit insecure and tended to take it out on the world). They'd have either screwed each other up more or helped each other through it.When he freaked out on her, she didn't really handle it better or worse than Belle. If he'd told her the truth afterwards, and if he'd done it calmly like he did with Belle, how would she have reacted?Hard to tell. She's handled herself well in serious situations since then but that was after she'd matured a bit:She took in the news about Martha's miscarriage, she handled Melody when she ran away from the clinic, she took the news of Aden's abuse in her stride when she finally got it and she did seem to be trying to support him at and after the clinic in her own Nicole way(which was pretty big of her, given that she nearly died while he was attempting patricide and he didn't seem to care). If she'd been the one dealing with his issues, she'd probably have made a joke about it because that's her way and he seems to understand that.(After the trial, she made a joke about him being in prison and while he didn't exactly laugh he wasn't offended because he knew it was her way of showing affection.)But it would have been interesting to see them deal with it together. Convenient or random, I can actually believe in Aden and Nicole as friends or as a couple and it's worth noting that aside from Geoff and Belle they're as close to each other in age as anyone else. It's probably a discussion for another thread but I've never been able to believe in Aden and Belle, that seemed truly random because I just couldn't believe that those characters with that history would react like that.I think Aden and Nicole have got a chemistry that they lack.

I'm in two minds about the whole Ruby/Xavier thing.I'm not too keen on the pairing but that's because I don't like Xavier.Ruby has always had a bit of a get-up-and-go attitude about her. This is after all the girl who turned up in town and enrolled herself at the local school without telling her family. So I think if she saw a boy she liked, especially one who might only have been in town for a little while, she would definitely go straight over and make it clear she was interested. Is Xavier her type?Well, aside from Pat, we don't really have any idea what her type is.(Okay, there was the crush on Miles...let's assume that was a personality thing and gloss over it.)He might be younger but physically speaking, which is all Ruby was going on to start with, he is a lot like Pat.As for Matthew, she did actually seem to be developing romantic feelings for him before she found out he was Sky and even after that she was ready to be friends with him until he posted her diary everywhere. If we stretch the Cassie analogy to breaking point, she was someone who could do a good job of sorting everyone else's life out but would then hook up with someone like Jules(or Macca or Henk...).So I think it's believable that Ruby would pick a guy who's not necessarily the best choice she could have made.

I would love it if these two got together.Anyone remember the episode where Aden and Belle were fighting about his father's drinking and Aden was chatting with Nicole at the surf club and then when Belle came in he basically forgot Nicole was there?I was practically screaming at him "For god's sake, stay where you are! You'd make a much better couple!"Even as friends they spark off each other really well. I've said it in at least two other threads but I'm kinda hoping they end up like Ric and Matilda, who also looked like they were going to get together when they first joined only for him to end up with someone else and them to settle down into a friends/quasi-sibling relationship but then got together further down the line.

Speaking as the person who put that on Wikipedia(I thought the Home and Away characters page looked a bit rubbish so I spent a couple of hours doing a top to bottom rewrite-I do strange things sometimes)...yes, that happened.Mumma Rose/Florence White sent some random goon to the hospital to kidnap Tasha's obstetrician when they found out she couldn't give birth naturally and Rachel was talking to her so he accidentally kidnapped her instead.I seem to recall she tried to give White some sort of knockout injection but it went wrong and Tasha got injected instead.

Yes, that was really lovely.Well done.

I've never really seen any chemistry between Aden and Belle but I don't think it's the actors' fault, they've always been doing their best to make it seem plausible.I think it's the characters, not the actors, who don't have chemistry if that makes any sense.

I decided to wait until after I'd seen the finale before reading the second part of this.Really liked it and especially the way they suggested the kidnapping contributed to Belle's PTSD, I get the feeling it's something Aden and Belle wouldn't really want to think about. I think I'd go for "beaten up" rather than "bashed" or "attacked" but then sometimes I'm just looking to start an argument. -
Um, just to make this one clear, Drew and Belle aren't half-siblings, they're step-siblings.Their parents are married but they're not blood relatives. Hopefully I'll be able to update later on today.

Oh...my...god.You've killed both of them? This is really good and so sad.Really want to read what happens next.

sorry if i gave it away Please, don't worry at all.You weren't the only one wondering so I guess I just dropped too many hints. I'm actually quite impressed you worked it out.

Thanks for your comments. Can I just say, now that it's out in the open, you are too good?(Especially you, xknomex, I think that's the second time you've guessed one of my big reveals chapters in advance.)Was hoping to keep a lid on that one but I guess having people suspecting built up the tension. Hope you all keep reading.I do know what I'm doing here, honestly.I'll just go back into my panic room now.

Oh wait a minute! So it’s kind of like Sam Beckett in Quantum Leap. Ric’s purpose was to save certain people in the alternate Summer Bay universe? Yes, basically.(And just to make a fellow fanboy happy, I nicked the alternate Ric sequences from Star Trek's Mirror Mirror.) I'll think about it...
